Crashes and bad renders with CUDA

by VreamSports » Thu Mar 22, 2018 5:18 pm

When CUDA is selected as the rendering engine in the settings, I get great flow with previews and rendering but it keeps crashing and the videos rendered are flickering or completely black. If I change back to GLSL it works fine. What might cause this? I am using Nvidia GTX 1060 with drivers up to date.

Hello,

CUDA is not compatible with all camera rigs. Which one are you using?

Best,
Olivier

hi Oliver,

I am using a rig with 6 GoPro's, similar to Omni.

Thank you for your reply.

Hello,

Did you pre-process the video files before adding them to AV?
Do you use v391.24 driver?
Can you share/send your footage?

Best,
Olivier

I did not pre-process the footage, I drag them to AV after organizing shots in folders.
Yes, I use v391.24 driver.
Video files are 2704x2032 so they are kind of large, if you like I can still upload them.
Should I render them in Premiere before putting them in AV? What is your suggestion about pre-procesing?

Thanks,
Cihan

Hello,

We do not recommend pre-processing to avoid issues with synchronization for instance.
As your rig is a sort of Omni (but Omni has a specific firmware), feel free to share your videos so that I can make some tests.
Cameras have the same position into the rig than the Omni?

Cheers,
Olivier

Hey there Oliver,

Here is the link, includes project file and panaroma.

https://we.tl/5nT5B8qjiM

I must say that crashes and video flickering happens with all the other footage too.

Thanks for the videos.
I did not encounter any crash using CUDA with H.264 MP4 default settings (AV3, Win 10, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro M4000).
What are your render settings? Did you apply any correction before you render?
Also, what is your computer brand? Any other software launched than AV when you render?

Best,
Olivier

Hi Cihan,

Can you just check if a bloatware named Sonic Suite is installed on your system? If so, can you remove it and restart your computer before making a new test?
In general, remove any unnecessary software or driver from the system.

Best,
Olivier

Hi,
Sonic Suite is not installed on the system and I checked for all unnecessary apps and drivers as you mentioned, still I keep having crashes. I have already sent two crash reports through the pop-up, still would it be appropriate to paste the result here? Would it be helpful?

Have a nice weekend,
Cihan

Hi Cihan,

I did not find any crash report with your email address. Did you use another one?

Best,
Olivier
