Autopano Video 3 + 360Rize Pro10 + Hero5

by billshafer » Mon Aug 14, 2017 12:51 am

I just got this rig & software to shoot 360VR training videos for work. Over the weekend, I shot my first quick 360 video as a test. The files import fine, and also sync up great. My problem: There seem to be some "voids" in the video (see black patches in attachment). I'm curious if anyone more seasoned might be able to jump in here with the fix for this beginner?

I notice that in the latest beta for Autopano Video 3, there doesn't seem to be a template for Hero5. Could this be the problem? Or should it be the same as Hero3+/4? The only other thing I can think of is the camera settings.

In what I've read thus far, the optimal settings for 6- or 7-camera rigs is a 4:3 aspect ratio. But I'm using 10 Hero5 cameras, so didn't think that would be an issue. The settings I used here were 2.7k (16:9) @ 60fps. Should I have used 4:3 instead (with my 10-camera rig)?

Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!

Yep...you need a 4:3 format or it won't cover the sphere
