Can autopano stitch images with no overlap?

I have 100,000 256x256px images that need to be stitched into one gigapixel. They don't contain any overlap though. Is autopano able to process these images into a gigapixel? If so, what process can I use?

Thank you so much!

Re: how to merge 90k 256x256 jpgs into one big PSB?

I haven't been able to try it on another computer.

Can Autopano giga compile these images back into a gigapixel? Do you know what procedure that would be?

lost gigapixels to HDD crash - anyway to DL from Gigapan?

I have a client asking for the gigapixel images that I created with autopano - my HDD crashed as I was about to deliver them. I have them uploaded to Gigapan's website though, but their tech support is not answering. Does anyone know of a way to download the tiles and restitch them to a PSD? I found...

Re: how to merge 90k 256x256 jpgs into one big PSB?

What I mean by "no overlap" is that the images I have are 256x256 square tiles that compose an entire 6 gigapixel image. They need to be reassembled into the gigapixel. These aren't images from the camera taken with roughly 30% overlap for each shot. No tricky calculations need to be done ...

Re: how to merge 90k 256x256 jpgs into one big PSB?

Hi Oliver, I didn't see any opportunity to send a crash report. I left the gigapan import running overnight and I got this error - "Error during detection bad allocation". There are 95,000 256x256px images with no overlapping borders. Can autopano stitch this back together? What do you mea...

how to merge 90k 256x256 jpgs into one big PSB?

Long story short, my hard drive crashed with all my panos and I need to send a pano to a client - fortunately it is on gigapan.com - I found this neat little script that can download and supposedly stitch the image back to a PSB: https://github.com/DeniR/Gigapan-Downloader-and-stitcher Great - excep...

Re: Best head option for shooting gigas with 400mm lens

Yes, I have researched that. Looks pretty good...but unfortunately, the price is a bit of an issue.

Re: Manhattan drone pair cuffed for NYPD chopper near miss .

Rata - are you talking about the police or the suspects? does Norway have stricter laws? In the US, cities like LA and NY are known for having heavy handed police.

Re: Best head option for shooting gigas with 400mm lens

Klaus,

I'm interested to know more about the panoneed. Is there a company email address? What is the soonest you can have one available shipped to the US?

Re: Best head option for shooting gigas with 400mm lens

Hi klausesser!

That looks pretty impressive. At long focal lengths, how long does it take to re-position and shoot each new photo? Does it provide an XML file for seamless stitching?

Re: Best head option for shooting gigas with 400mm lens

Thanks for the info! I've been researching each head...i'm still curious what actual users are experiencing though. I'll be shooting ~10 gigapixel images with a Canon 5D Mark 3 and a 400mm lens. I already have the Kolor Panogear head, but it has been very unsatisfactory for these reasons: - The time...

Best head option for shooting gigas with 400mm lens

I've done several gigapixels with the kolor motorized head, and to be honest, it was barely better (if at all) than shooting the thing manually by hand. It was crazy slow and the interface was quite poor. My question is, is there a better automatic panoramic head available for use with such a large ...

Hey All! I have a pretty sweet ~15 gigapixel pano that i'd like to share online - ideally on a website built for the image to help promote it- maybe similar to the famous Paris 26 gigapixel. also, any idea why the images are spaced unevenly - they were taken with the robotic head, so they should all be of equal space between one anohter.

also, why would they need to be rotated at all in autopano? the rotation seems to be arbitrary.

Can you run neutral-hazer on a 15 gig file or do you have to do each file individually? i've already edited a bunch in photoshop, and don't want to start over.

Yeah, I upgraded my machine specifically for this. 32gb ram (not enough, wish i had 64), 256gb samsung 830 SSD, 4 core intel i7 2700k OC at 4.3ghz. This panorama is bringing it to its knees though. It opens in photoshop yeah, but it takes forever to save and i need at least 1TB free HDD just for scr...

RMS sesems quite high and other weirdness

The global RMS is 3.93 for a 15 gigapixel image (1000 photos) shot with a Merlin/Panogear with pappywizard import. While this is not "high", I've shot several ~10 gigapixel panoramas without using a rotating head and got RMS as low as 2 before. I would think that with a rotating head and xml import ...

Autopano giga panorama seems to be 140% larger than the actual photos

The image on the left that is open in photoshop is the 100% zoom on the panorama rendered from APG. Image on the left is one of the original 21.1 megapixel images from the camera that is used to make up the panorama. Something doesn't seem right here. Why would the final resulting image be so much l...

Anybody shoot a gigapano from Montparnasse in Paris? Here's my test...

After my shanghai pano, i'm in Paris ready for a new challenge. I'm a bit frustrated by the weather, and the fact that it is impossible to take a single pano easily because of the glass barrier. This is actually from 3 different shooting locations. I can't believe it actually stitched so well. (glob...
