What operating system is supported?

GoPro VR Player is a free application supported on Windows and OSX.

Minimal configuration:

  • Graphic cards that support OpenGL 2.0 minimum
  • Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), OSX 10.10 (Yosemite), OSX 10.11 (El Capitan)
  • Windows 7, Windows 8 & 8.1, Windows 10 recommended


Recommended configurations:

  • Windows OS:
    • Windows 10
    • Video Card NVIDIA GTX 970
    • CPU Intel i7
    • 8Gb RAM
  • Mac OS:
    • OSX 10.11 - MacBook Pro Retina 15"
    • Video Card AMD Radeon R9 M370X
    • CPU Intel i7
    • 8Gb RAM

What kind of file formats/codecs are accepted in input?

Multiple formats supported:

  • 360 videos up to 4K
  • CineForm for 360 videos above 4K
  • 3D stereo videos
  • 360 pictures (equirectangular and cubemap)
  • YUV video format


You can input 360 videos up to 4K and 3D stereo videos

Depending on the operating system and the video backend selected:

  • Standard videos file formats supported: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, TS, ...
    • Supported codecs: H.264, H.265, CineForm, ProRes, VP8, VP9, DivX, MPEG-2, ...
  • Standard image file formats supported: JPEG, JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIF, TIFF, ...
