Girocam: FAQ

Girocam is a 360° shooting solution that lets you capture complete scenes very quickly while freeing you from the image-stitching work, since this part is completely automated. Shooting is also simpler than with a DSLR since you just need to click on a button to capture the 360x150-degree view. The photos obtained are of much higher quality than the preceeding "one-shot" solutions and they are suitable for most virtual tour projects. Combined with the use of Panotour Pro software to create interactions, Girocam will let you create striking virtual tours easily. For those wishing to create virtual tours in very high definition, Kolor suggest you opt for a DSLR camera with a fisheye lens combined with Autopano Pro or Autopano Giga software for the stitching and Panotour or Panotour Pro software for the virtual tour creation.

Kolor Girocam Studio is the app provided with Girocam. It lets you automatically stitch the photos produced with the 3 fisheye lenses of the camera and adjust some color settings. This app is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. It is downloadable after the purchase in your private space on Girocam's website.

• A sufficient hard disk space (Kolor Girocam Studio needs to create large temporary files for a quick stitching)

• The 64-bit version of your operating system if your hardware can handle it (eg. Windows Vista 64 bits, Mac OS 10.6 - 64 bits, Ubuntu 11.10 - 64 bits, etc)
• A 2 GHz processor or more
• Multi-core processors
• 4 Gb of RAM or more

Kolor Girocam Studio stitches your photos and lets you save your 360° views in 3 different formats:

• JPEG: the format that best fits most of the uses.
• TIFF: this format preserves more data from the initial raw picture but it is heavier than JPEG.
• EXR: if you achieve HDR shootings and want to keep the full color dynamic range to use it in post-processing software.

Autopano Giga and Panotour Pro are not included in the Girocam package. Autopano Giga lets you enhance the image stitching if you would like to go further than the automatic stitching offered by Girocam. Panotour Pro lets you transform the panoramas created with Girocam into quality, interactive virtual tours. Both applications are available in demo version in Kolor Download Center.

Girocam comes with a manufacturer warranty of one year. The warranty applies from the date of purchase. If you encounter a hardware problem during the warranty period, you must contact the manufacturer directly:
