Has been reported for Panotour - as I see.

This is urgent! ;-)

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

sorry for that.

It's a problem regarding APP/APG/PT/PTP - x64/x86.
Virtualisation does not help either.

Just one Core is utilized.

This is an awkfully old problem:

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

Hello,
I got the same problem on APG 2.6.2 x64 on Ubuntu 10.10 x64.
I tested on two CPU AMD 4x and AMD 6x and in that two cases only one core is calculating for all sort of operations rendering, optimisation, geometric analysis...
Of course the multi core option is enabled and the number of core is correctly set...
Thanks

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

I just find an old mail from kolor about this problem :
the source of the problem should be the OMP modul used for the multithreading I think, and an environment variable defined in our linux system.
A list of this variables can be found here :
https://computing.llnl.gov/tutorials/op … tVariables
You have to type 'printenv' in a terminal and look at any OMP_ variable. If you find one, erase it with 'export <OMP_VARNAME>=""' should resolve the problem...
In my case, I can't find any of this variables in my system but I share this info hoping helping someone...

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

This issue is still open here on some linux configuration, only with AMD CPUs.
It is hard to reproduce, and so to solve. It appears that some CPUs only under linux are behaving not what we expect in OpenMP multithreading context.

This OpenMP env variable could be one way to look ( it did work in some cases ).

So AMD CPUs should be not recommender with Linux in systems requirments page of the software...

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

Is somebody have this problem with others AMD CPU's than Phenom's II ?
Is it more safe to buy Intel's CPU's for APG ?

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

Is it possible to get the settings of the environment variables and put them manualy with the export command ?
I tried with
export OMP_NUM_THREADS=6
but doesn't seem to work, maybe others env vars are missing...

Thanks

Re: Phenom II X6 - no multicore [2.6.2 x64 Linux]

We suspect another possible cause : an issue with the compiler we are using under linux ( Intel compiler too old ).
We are updating the build network with new version and perhaps it will solve this issue.
In 3 weeks, this hypothesis could be checked.
