I'm trying to upload a cylindrical 360° panorama, not a full sphere. Is this feature supported only for full spheres, do I need to check some option, or is this feature not supported at all? I can use exiftool but it's not exactly what I would call user-friendly.
It doesn't have to be a 360 x 180 panorama but I think it has to use the "Spherical" not the "Cylindrical" projection in APG
Also, the exif data that Facebook uses (in the XMP section) can be overwritten, deleted or corrupted by some 3rd party editing software if you have done any post rendering updates before posting on Facebook
As a reminder, any 360 panorama created with recent versions of Autopano Pro/Giga (from v3.5) contains all required data to be shared on Facebook. If you’ve edited your panorama after stitching with Autopano, your panorama will be missing the necessary meta-data Facebook requires to detect it is a 360° panorama Some editors have the option “Save XMP data” and “Save Exif data” when saving your edits, if available make sure you check those options. Otherwise, you can either copy back the exif data from the original panorama to the new one using exif editors, or you’ll find several other tips online for restoring or recreating metadata that Facebook can detect.
Just checked... It does work if I choose a spherical projection. Oddly enough, Facebook gives instructions using exiftool with a cylidrical projection. The spherical seems much better: Straight lines are rendered as straight lines at least.
