Sewing spots in the sky

by Ugo Visciani » Wed Oct 25, 2017 8:58 am

Hello people
I wanted to ask you if the sewing spots in the sky of a Gigapixel panorama are normal? ( to understand me better see attachment). Is that an APG issue or just some settings to change ?? I shoot the pictures with a canon 5d mark III and a roundshot system. I used the default settings of APG!

thanks
Ugo

Hello,

This is not normal. Have you applied any vignetting/gradient correction and/or click preview icon to apply an automatic color correction and blending?

Best,
Olivier

Hello Ugo,

So please, can you apply a vignetting and/or Gradient correction and click Apply?
The preview icon I mentionned lets you having a good idea of the panorama without applying any correction: http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/vie ... or#Toolbar

Best regards,
Olivier

I've added the changes, but it's still not good! Is that the maximum that APG can manage ?? Are there other ways to create a smooth sky (whiteout photoshop)??

thank
Ugo

Hi Ugo,

Is it the rendered pano above or just a preview?
What is the image file format?
Can you try to import your picts using Gigapan import module instead?
Can you try after disabling GPU processing (restart the app to apply the setting)?
Finally, are you able to share/send your footages?

Best,
Olivier

Hello Ugo,

I get the same results but when using Papywizard import module, it seems to be a bit better but not really perfect unfortunately.
Did you make any treatment to the pictures, I mean with Capture one for instance? ;-)
If so, have you tried with the original pictures? Do you have the same issue with all your gigapixel panos?

Best,
Olivier

Hi Oliver
0h I undertand :/
olivierbo wrote:Did you make any treatment to the pictures, I mean with Capture one for instance? ;-)
yes but just some basic workflow: exposure, saturation, levels, clarity, highlights and shadows, defraction. No vignetting and stuff like that. One time I tried to use the tool "Light fall of" that made the borders brighter...but got not good results.
No I never tried with original pictures...I will try ( but I think it has no sense, because the raw pictures need to be processed...).
I had this problem with all gigapixel that I made -> notes that this problem appear just when the sky is really blue and clear.

Thank for your try! I let you know if it works with the non-processed images!
Ugo

Hi Oliver,
yes the psb file is 22 Gb and the quantity of images is 2032!! Shoot with an 600 mm and a Canon 5D mark 4. Notice that in the attachment above is just a part of the panorama.

best
Ugo

Hi Ugo,

Can you try to just correct exposure and color, multiband level -1 and no cutting ?

Cheers,
Olivier

Yes, in APG edit your panorama, go to Color correction and select Exposure and Color only. Apply. Go to Blend menu, select Multiband/No cutting, level -1 and apply.
Let me know if the result is better or not.

Best,
Olivier
