If I disinstall the new version for downgrade (i have the same problem with custom view) are there any problem with the license? Can I put my license in the downgrade version and run?
You probably can but You dont have to uninstall 2.5.8, just rename the file to 2.5.8 in finder (if your using mac) and install the 2.5.7 version. You will end up with 2 versions in finder.
I also have the same problem. I found out that everytime I click on the spot in the editor, the custom view has been rejected. So please fix it. I have a tour with nearly 600 spots and this is not much fun...
As long as you don't press the spot again after you've set the custom view, it normally remembers it.
I say normally because I've noticed that random events can reset the custom view and I say random because I haven't been able to find the cause.
I have a tour with 100+ panos where I've set custom view for all of the 250-300 spots. Sometimes after I've made a couple of changes to the tour that doesn't have anything to do with the spots, I notice that some of them have returned to their default view.
Good to know that the custum views are still saved. I got very confused when searching for a pattern, at what point the custom view informations gets lost. On a mac I just have several versions of panotour installed at the same time. When I won't use the latest version I first open e.g. version 2.5.7 and from within the app I open my file.
I am having this issue too. I must say it is very unprofessional to leave a major bug like this in the system for so long. I think I will advise my company to seek a refund and go with 3dVista instead.
I'm completely with you what the major bug concerns. The funny thing about 3dVista is that I never saw a tour where the view is correct after changing a hotspot. I guess they don't even have the custom view function - at least I didn't find one in the demo version. The good thing about this is that there couldn't be a bug where there is no function ;-)
I agree that kolor should have fixed this long time ago but 3dVista isn't a serious alternative to Panotour. You might as well find some free alternative if you consider 3dVista. If you want similar functionality to Panotour, then Pano2VR is something you should have a look at. They're releasing a new version soon but you will get the new version for free if you sign up today. I use both Panotour and Pano2VR as they both have their pros and cons.
3dVista has the better marketing movies and two really cool functions: the hdr-pano and the cool night-day blending. But Pano2VR is definitely the better programm. Beginning with the multiresolution feature that's missing in 3dVista - resulting in long waiting times when loading a new panorama.
This thread reporting the bug was posted almost 6 months ago.
Why haven't we had an update that fixes this bug yet?
To still get the benefits of 2.5.8 but without the absolute headache this bug creates I am developing the tour with 2.5.7 and then doing a final build with 2.5.8.
One could just think that the GoPro Drone debacle has let them stop paying Kolor. I hate companies that buy every cool little company around. That's seldom good for the cool companies...
@cobol667 @bobjones True, a 2.5.9 was planned for September and it has been delayed due to an other major issue found into the latest krpano version which correct others majors issues ... it's very difficult to push something in these conditions unfortunatly and it's a too long task to go backward for the 2.5.8 compatibility. We hope to have the release ASAP but I've no ETA date, I'm sorry, we are krpano dependent on this software.
@ungeherr Of course Pano2VR is a very nice tool Also usefull for Google Streetview photographers!
Appears that Kolor is praising a competitor’s product. It’s like we are being told that ‘we don’t intend to do further development, just switch to our competitor’. If that is the case please just say you are dropping Panotour. If not make a firm statement on your future direction. I absolutely love Panotour and would hate to see its demise.
We are entering December now, and still no bug release or update.
This is not acceptable!
We have paid for the software, including the advertised functions, and at the moment (and during the past 6 month) we do not have a fully working program.
There is also many other bugs in PTP that haven't been fixed.
Eg. Floorplan does not work on Windows computers with a touch-screen The software crashes several times, when building a big tour Etc. Etc.
Just look at the Bug section here in the Forum.
We are at a point, where it is obvious that Kolor don't have any intensions to keep on developing PTP.
If it was possible to create the menu system in a Pano2VR, like the sidebar plugin, i would have switched a long time ago.
It's now been two years since 2.5 and over 6 months since 2.5.8 which has a bug which makes it unusable for myself and everyone else who has commented on this thread.
Kolor has been aware of the problem and refuses to roll out a fix for this massive bug for over 6 months now. This bug deserves an immediate hotfix 2.5.8.1 not to wait until 2.5.9 to roll it out with other bug fixes. Again, that puts Kolor close to 2.6 and they don't have any new features to justify the new version number.
I create virtual tours for a living. I need to rely on my software of choice to keep up with the latest developments and to continue to innovate.
Kolor has obviously halted development of Panotour and focused on 360 video instead of interfaces. They don't actively reply to Panotour bug reports on the forum any longer as well.
I have been saying it to myself for months but I need to accept that Kolor is not currently supporting Panotouor and I should not expect them to come out with a new version or fix any bugs in the near future or *ever* for that matter.
It's time to move on from Panotour. It was a nice program while it was supported by the developers... But it's no longer being developed. If we need innovation, we need to look elsewhere for it.
