System requirements for 7920x3960 @ 25fps

by decurgia » Sun Jan 01, 2017 9:22 pm

Hi all and a happy new year!

Since a few weeks I do own a GoPro Omni camera. I took the camera and my MacBook Pro (mid 2010, GeForce 330m with 512MB dedicated RAM) with me on my Christmas holiday. At the offsite location I captured two 10 minute videos, one with 2,7k / 25fps, the other one with 1440p / 50fps.
Sadly I can't render neither videos, each time I start rendering AVP 2.5.3 crashes after displaying it's rendering on GeForce 330m. I assume it's related to the available video RAM, as I'm able to render the second Kolor demo video using 4096 x 2048 ProRes 422 HQ.

I would like to upgrade my MacBook Pro to the current model. I want to be able to stitch movies even on offsite locations and I would like to stick with the ProRes format.
Do I have to order the model with 4GB video RAM or will the 2GB just do fine? What would be the maximum supported resolution with both memory configurations? Maybe the 4GB version would be more future-proof.

Cheers
-Luca.

I was able to stitch the same footage using my Windows gaming machine (GTX980 / 4GB), even with ProRes codec.

Now I'm curious if it would also work with a video card with only 2GB or 1,5GB video RAM.
