Bug Galore…

by jarane » Sat Dec 13, 2014 7:21 pm

Hi everyone,
I recently updated to PTP 2.3 and created a 24-pano tour.

Below are some of the glitches I found on this new iteration of PTP.
I’m using a Mac Pro OS 10.9.5.

1- Loading time
At startup, each pano took over one minute to load, causing the cube faces to show and eventually not allowing the pano to load completely. I was using 10000 x 5000 px images, and ended up reducing the size to 6000 x 3000 px.

I read that the Floor Plan plugin was causing the slow-loading issue, so I decided to eliminate it.

2- Floor map
After deleting the Floor Plan’s image link, unchecking it from the navigation bar list and ….. its icon still shows on the tour’s navigation bar.

3- Panorama List
For some reason, the panorama list shows only about 1/5 (or less) of its size on the startup panorama.
This issue disappears once you’ve passed this first pano, but it is confusing to the viewers, who cannot see the list.

4- Browser compatibility
When I saw the panorama list cut in 1/5 of its size, I thought that it could be a Safari issue, so I tried to open the tour in Chrome and in Firefox. I’m attaching screen shots of both attempts.

5- Freeze Rotation
Whenever the tour remains inactive for more that 1 minute, it freezes until I right-click on it. Only then I am able to make it rotate again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you viewing the tour offline or online?

Do you have multi-res selected in Build configuration?

I read that the Floor Plan plugin was causing the slow-loading issue, so I decided to eliminate it.

Where did you read that?

After deleting the Floor Plan’s image link, unchecking it from the navigation bar list and ….. its icon still shows on the tour’s navigation bar.

Did you completely re-Build the tour after the change?

Did you choose to build both Flash and HTML5 versions of the tour?

Which version are you viewing?

Hi Mediavets,
thanks for your prompt reply.

- Read about the floor plan issue here:
viewtopic.php?f=91&t=24508

- Multi-res option checked by default.

- Did not rebuild the tour from scratch. Just deleted the floor plan image and unchecked the option from the navigation bar options.

- Only HTML5 version. No Flash.

- Viewing it online

Thanks again!!

How many floorplans does your tour contain and how many spots on each?

- Did not rebuild the tour from scratch. Just deleted the floor plan image and unchecked the option from the navigation bar options.

I meant did you force the tour output files to be completely recreated when building again after edits? By specifiying a new target folder/directory.

- Only HTML5 version. No Flash.

Why no Flash?

- Viewing it online

May we share the URL?

Oops sorry, didn't see the whole post.

- Just 1 one-level floor plan
- No Flash 'cause I thought it would just complicate things. Is there a performance advantage to building both?
- I created a separate "build" folder and created a new set of files.

Then unless it had vast numbers of hotspots I would not have thought it would have that much impact on load times. But did you find removing the floorplan made a lot of difference?

Some older browsers do not support all HTML5 tour features.

The krpano HTML5 viewer doesn't yet support all the features supported by the krpano Flash viewer.

OTOH some things work better with the HTML5 viewer for tours containing certain plugins.

Without the Floor plan, It loads faster with no pixelation or cube faces problems.
The total number of hot spots on it was 24.

Hi Destiny,
jpeg quality 9 (default).

I started at 10k 16-bit psd files, but as I felt it was too slow, I worked my way down to 8-bit 6k.

8bit tiff is the way to go.. Try Qlt 8... The sharpness of your images is a but blurry.. So wouldn't want to go too low..

Do you have maps in that last URL.. They do not seem to open my end, if you do have them.. A good test to see if they are working is to make them open on start.. If they do not then you have an issue...

You have a floor plan icon on your menu.. So are there any floor plans on your tour now..

Do you still have any bugs...

Can you check to make sure that your build is actually creating the sliced image folders..

Your scenes shots with HTML5, Combobox are very strange.. I wonder if you have a hardware issue..

Have your tried to use the krpano Testing Server. Lets see if your Tour works ok Locally first...

Download it from here.. It will allow you to view your Tour as if it was uploaded to a remote sever, so all features will work as normal. The Green Preview Last Tour does the same thing. All you need to to is point krpano TS to your folder where the html page is located... Open it and see what happens....

Is there an issue with the godaddy server?

I think there might be..

There has been many reports in the past reporting issues with the Godaddy Server.. Things like permissions and file limits.. Perhaps you should have mentioned you were using Godaddy server from the start... I suggest you find another ISP to load your Tours on.. There are heaps of them...
