web publishing for mobiles

by innocent bystander » Wed May 15, 2013 12:32 pm

Hello

I've just finished making my first tour and want to publish it on a third party web site and host it on mine.. I’ve had a look at the documentation (http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/action/view/Panotour_-_Web_publishing) and it only seems to mention the flash tour for desktops and not the html5 for mobiles. Could someone please tell me the way to publish to the web taking into account both desktop and mobile devices?

Thanks a lot!

If you create a tour using PTP 1.8 for both desktop and mobile (which means Apple iDevices) then the easiest way to make sure the correct version fo the tour is delivered to each platform is to use one of fthe HTML template option when building the tour.

Use the Build as... option and build the tour into a new foldre.

That folder will then contain everything you need to upload to a server; make sure you retain the file/folder structure when uploading.

When you access the tour via the HTML file it invokes a script that detects the browser user-agent. If the detected browser user-agent is for an iDevice then the HTML 5 version of teh tour gets loaded otherwise it will attempt to load the Flash version.

Hi sorry to bring this up again but the documentation for panotour 1.8 says

STANDARD CODE FOR WEB PUBLISHING

To display your virtual tour on your website, you can use this standard code :
<object width="100%" height="100%"> <embed src="http://WWW.MY-DOMAIN.COM/VIRTUAL_TOUR/MY-TOUR.SWF" width="100%" height="100%" allowFullScreen="true"> </embed> </object>

Would I replace the http://WWW.MY-DOMAIN.COM/VIRTUAL_TOUR/MY-TOUR.SWF with the .html template file? or use what it says in the documentation for panotour 2
<iframe src="http://WWW.MY-DOMAIN.COM/VIRTUAL_TOUR/MY-TOUR.html" width="800" height="600" allowFullScreen></iframe>

I have to deliver a Virtual Tour and just want to give them as much info as I can. Also as I don't know much about coding, what html template would I give to the client? fullscreen html or generic html? They are going to want to embed it into their website.

Thanks,

The iframe solution is probably the best.

Provide examples using both types of HTML template and ask them which they prefer for future projects.

Hi guys, I don't want to open a new post.
I'm using PTP2.1 but publishing would be the same.

I want to put my tour into a square box on a page.... using a iframe works ok, but on iOS (tested with iPad) it has issues, as the kolor reference says.

This is one of the websites:

http://www.ilcapellaiomatto.com/

Clicking on virtual tour it opens an iframe working properly on any evice, except iOS.

I gave webmaster this code:

Code: Select all
<iframe src="http://www.francescosartoriph.com/vtour/wellnes-and-beauty/ilcappellaiomatto/index.html" width="800" height="600" allowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true"></iframe>

I don't know how he created the frame box, in an other website, a different webmaster used this jScript
http://zurb.com/playground/reveal-modal-plugin

I's possible to make the page responsive? with iframe for all device, except for iOS?

what's the right way to implement vtour on websites? =(

An other way for me is to create a thumbnail image thant opens a new page (or tab) with the tour linked into an html file that seems to be property of the website, but that links to my project con my server... but that is just a thought.

I hope you understand me =)
