John Houghton has presented a clever yet simple way to stitch hand-held images when the pavement or tiling is generally hard to join properly…

He has experimented with PTGui and placed most Cps manually. The key point is the ability to use some images twice in a single project (PTGui permits): for stitching as usual the background (farthest in the scene) and stitching duplicate same images as offset nadir shots of the floor or ground. Some masking makes the rest of the feat. You may read the detailed process at: http://www.panoguide.com/forums/tipsntricks/11519/

To autonomously yield similar results, APG 3.5 shall fortunately also allow us to use offset (oblique VP corrected) nadir shots ;) yet I deeply doubt that the current rather rudimentary Kolor masking feature may suffice =(
Unfortunately and in addition I doubt that duplicate use of images in a single project is foreseen by Kolor: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15316&p=101895#p101895

Thanks Georg,

Wasn't I clear in the OP?
I did aknowledge the new improved ViewPoint correction feature in APG 3.5b3 and I use it with delight.

Yet, I am begging for a MUCH better APG Masking feature than current and for the ability of APG to input at will some of the images sources multiple times ("duplicate"). On par with what PTGui Pro offers...

What about having the John Houston tutorial with APG 3.5 ?
Details here : http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/action/ ... _the_nadir

Hi Alexandre,

That's an informative series. Well done indeed. Bookmarked. Kudos!
Could this tutorials be supplemented with an APG version of John's technique for stitching hand held panoramas (with multiple VP corrections on "duplicated" nadir views) as described in the OP?

BTW Using a different workflow than in your APG interpretation of the "multiple viewpoints on the nadir photo" correction example, I nevertheless got a similar result, with a slight deviation:

I would thus suggest you to complete the masking job so as to set upright the bench foot:/
(Edit 22 Mar 2014) : OK, the slanted bench leg has been corrected. Thanks.
Best,

Michel
