I am considering buying the Panogear
and wondered if it could also be used as a pan / tilt head for still shots? i.e. use it to position the camera to the desired angle and then take a still image?
could I control the exposure and camera settings remotely too?
Thanks in advance.

I do shoot pano's and am just getting into gigapixels so would find use for it there. But I am also about to invest in a fanotec pole 3 and want a robotic pan / tilt head to be able to accurately position the camera remotely from on top of the pole. I have looked at the Hague pan/tilt head http://www.b-hague.co.uk/pan__tilt_power_head.htm which seems ok but from my research, is a very dated piece of kit! Although the price is attractive when compared to the likes of ServoCity etc. Which is where I spotted the Panogear and thought it could be a happy medium...?
I shoot with a 7D.
What is wrong with the Panoshoot controller?
What other options are there that you would recommend?
