Broken Panogear

The head is still rotating but not consistently. I will be very appreciative of any advice or insight.

You can get all sorts of problem if you operate it with the battery cover removed, or if light leaks through the base of the bubble level, because it upsets the optical encoders.

Right i agree. It works the same way with or without cover.
