Hello again,
I'm using PTP 1.6 to made a video tour like this one http://bamboo.tomsk.ru/tour/?id=1
I have a 360-120 pano image and 3 .flv video files with alpha-channel.
Using spherical projection and normal view I got the following result http://360tomsk.ru/Panda/tour.html
It has sufficient quality and if I work more on the adjustment of rectangular video I can make it more neat.
However, when I change the projection to planar (like in the first link) the video is not displayed - so the question is - is it possible to put a rectangular video on a panorama in planar projection
And the second question - is it possible to cycle planar projection (like in the tour from the first link) ? So far when I build a tour with a planar projection panorama when I move left or rigth it eventually come to the edge of pano image and stops instead of cycling

I don't think this was created using PTP - probably created with Flashificator/Flash Panorama Player.

What's wrong with using a spherical projection?

You cannot use planar projection with a 360FOV. The first link does not show a planar projection, my guess is that it is a spherical projection as the VFOV is quite limited, or perhaps a cylindrical projection although AFAIK Fonly Pano2VR can handle cylindrical projection 360 FOV pano images.

PTP does not support cylindrical projections. Only spherical or planar.

Certainly works in PTP1.8...but as mentioned previously that's not a planar projection - in the first link - it has a 360 HFOV.

Oops,
I misused the terms - yes the pano was actually equirectangular 360-180 (later it was cropped to apprx. 120 )
I was talking about the projection of this equirectangular image in the final .swf project. It is probably called plane projection in English not planar.
I'd better use two examples
1 http://360tomsk.ru/Panda/tour.html
2 http://360tomsk.ru/Panda/planar/tour.html

In the 1st tour the output projection is spherical while in the 2nd one planar
It is exactly the same project - only output projection is different.
So the question is - why reclangular video is ok in the 1st link and why it is invisible in the 2nd
The 2nd question - when you got to the edge of a pano in the 1st link it is cycled (you can infinitely rotate it right or left) but the one in the 2nd link is limited - when you got to the left or right edge - it stops and you have to get back

An equirectangular image is not designed to be viewed as a Planar projection, its designed to be view as a Spherical Projection. To use the Planar, you use a normal lens/wide angle to capture a flat pano of X degrees to 360. It will have Ends to it where it will stop....

If you crop an equirectangular image with a spherical projection to reduce the FOV it still has spherical projection.

The projection type and FOV are quite separate things.

I would describe a pano with a HFOV of less than 360 as a partial panorama.

PT/PTP can only properly handle images with spherical and planar projections. By default PTP/PTP will assume an image has a spherical projection. If your stitched pano image has been created with APP/APG and not post-processed with it will contain a Kolor EXIF tag that provides FOV data and projection type to PT/PTP automatically. The projection type you set for an image in PT/PTP should match the projection type chosen when the image was stitched otherwise it will not be displayed correctly when the tour is viewed.

The only time you would normally set a planar projection for an image is if you are incorporating single (unstitched) images shot with a rectilinear lens in your tour.

Your second example appears to use uses a partial panorama stitched and rendered with a spherical projection with APP/APG but set as a planar projection in PT/PTP - which is just silly, in my opinion.

But you can if you wish add a video to such image and it will display when the tour is viewed but of course it will not be 'distorted' to match the distortion in the pano image if you set the projection type of the pano image to planar when it should be spherical.

If you have autorotation set then a pano with a HFOV of 360 will rotate endlessly, a pano with a FOV of less than 360 will 'cycle' to and fro reversing direction when it reaches an edge.

Thanks for assistance. I managed to insert the videos (it turned out that if a rectangle of a video is to small - PTP sets its width to 0 - I managed to change it by editing xml files. In spherical projection the width is not measured in abstract units but in pixels - so it was ok with spherical from the beginning)
The first problem is finally solved.

Detiny told that planar projection is not designed to be cycled (http://bamboo.tomsk.ru/tour/?id=1 - this link where it is cycled was probly done in Adobe Flash or some other software)
I just want to aks - is it possible to edit xml in order to cycle planar projection of 360 panorama or such option is not supported and other software should be used to build a tour like on the link above

It is a strange world but the client said that if to choose from two projections

Three observations:

1. That pano has a full 360 HFOV.

2. It is not a planar projection. It may be a cylindrical projection or a spherical projection - cropped on th V axis.

3. Images with a HFOV of less than 360 degrees will 'cycle' (pan) to and fro when displayed in a tour with autorotation on; regardless of their Output projection type setting in PTP..

Please understand that the Output projection Spherical or Planar setting in PTP does not change the projection type of the image, it merely changes how it is handled in PTP.

If the Output projection type set in PTP matches the projection type of the image then it will look correct when displayed in the tour; otherwise it will not look correct when displayed in the tour (as in your second example).

What you appear to have in the second example is a cropped equirectangular image with a spherical projection but with the Projection type set to planar in PTP; which is very silly in my opinion, but if your client wishes to display a distorted image...

I've decided to work on the classic spherical output projection so far.
As I understand it is impossible to cycle the view when the output projection is set to planar.
That is what I've got so far

I just want to aks one more question.
I've got these rectangular videos and they are played in an infinite loop. However when the video ends there is about one second pause before it starts again Is it possible to fix it somehow. I thought that if I set pausedonstart="false" option than this problem would be fixed but it didn't work. Are there any other commands for video to eliminate this short pause.

No, that's not the case. Autorotate will pan a planar image to and fro.
