To long loading times for 8 jpeg quality and longer loading times with splash screen?

How long is too long? I haven't seen any significant increase in load times compared to PTP1.8.

Yes, it's nearly the same algorithm for image compression.

Well, that's settled.
But: Why the loading icon appears only near the end of the loading process and not immediately?
To demonstrate an example here. It looks as if nothing happened, until finally the loading text appears. But not all visitors to wait so long and they're gone ...

With DSL 3000 it takes 40 seconds to the loading icon and then again for 5 seconds with icon. This is not right.
