Neutralhazer aborts PS5 while processing a big file

by PeterE. » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:41 pm

I use PS5x64 on Windows 7-64 with a Core i7 8 GB computer. When I try to process a 29480 x 7899 16 bit image Neutralhazer will abort PS5 when the progress bar reaches about 55 to 60 % done. The picture can be a tiff, psd or fff file, it originates from a 6x24 cm rollfilm scan with a Flextight X1. I have absolutely no problems with other PS5 filters or plugins on this files with this machine.
Please help!
Kind regards, Peter.

I have the same issue on two different platforms.
Image is a 1.2GB tiff 41038x4919;
Platforms are a) PS5x64 on Windows 7x64 SP1 8GB Ram; AMD Athlon II X2 and b) PS5x64 on Windows 7x64 SP1 8GB RAM; i5-2450
Version is Neutralhazer_win32_102_2012-04-26

Progress bar stops around 50% and PS5 aborts.

Does anyone know if there's either a filesize or imagesize limitation in NH?

Neutralhazer is very greedy with memory and with very big images as you observed and as we stated in product documentation. Crashs are definitely not acceptable, and we are working to find a solution to handle these tough cases.

Waiting for a solution, please be careful only running Photoshop on your machine when applying NH (check in task manager if another process is not eating much RAM).

You can also try to run Neutralhazer in XnView image processing software which has a lower memory footprint. You can get it there for free:
