Re: Panotour Crashes Chrome

Hi Gérald, that didn't work unfortunately.

I made sure that I didn't use a cached version of our tour, by renaming the root directory and using the incognito mode on Google as well.

BTW, the crash happens right after the little planet effect, not before or during.

Hi Gérald

Thanks for this. I have implemented the code change. The tour works great after the initial clear cache/browsing data. However If I refresh/reload from this point the tour starts to crash in chrome.

If I clear browsing data again and reload the tour works fine with no crash until I refresh without clearing browsing data.

Any ideas?

Can you do the following ?

1/ Edit the file called " mytour_core.xml " . You'll find it in the "mytourdata" directory

2/ In this file find the action named "startLittlePlanetIntroEffect"

3/ In this action there are the following lines :
Code: Select all
      if (sceneisfull360,
        wait(0);
        fromlittleplanetintrotonormalview();
      );

4/ Delete the "wait(0);" line . Then the code will be :
Code: Select all
      if (sceneisfull360,
        fromlittleplanetintrotonormalview();
      );

5/ Save the file and , re-do a check of your tour in Chrome browser

Gérald

This didn't work for me. However, unchecking "Start tour with little planet effect" and re-building the project fixed it for me. It's stable in Chrome (51.0.2704.103) again.

Chrome Canary (53.0.2777.0) is stable with little planet effect.

It seems that the tour that crashes Chrome are only tours done with Panotour Pro 2.5.3 .

To confirm it, or not, can you try to re-build your tour with Panotour Pro 2.5.2 version.
You can download this previous version here : http://download.kolor.com/ptp/stable/history

Then tell me if your tours crash when built with PTP 2.5.2 .

Thanks a lot for your time helping us to find the reason of this bug.

Gérald,

I tested my tour on Panotour Pro 2.5.0 and 2.5.2 as well (as mentioned before), the output always crashes in Google Chrome right after the Little Planet effect.

When I open the same tour in 2.3.2 (ignoring the WebVR error message) and generate new files, then all works fine (I also made sure I disabled the Flash plugin).

Hi Gérald

I have built tours in all the 2.5 versions already and had the same result. Same tours subsequently built on 2.3.2 are stable and have no crash issues.

Thanks.

Hi Benjamin

Unfortunately yes. I updated Chrome and tested and still observed crashes as per normal when using 2.5.3.

My tour has no little planets and still crashes with Chrome (i7, windows 7 64 bit). I uninstalled Chrome and re-installed and still crashes.
There is something strange happening here as I have chrome on my Surface Pro 3 running windows 10 i7 64 bit and it does not crash. So it is not happening on all Chrome installs.

We reproduce this issue with Chrome : version 51.0.2704.106 m but only on MacOS .
The error does not occur in Chrome : versions 50.x
But it occurs worst in further versions of Chrome (available in beta versions)

We do not reproduce it with any other browser .

We are working on this major issue.
We are not able yet to tell you when it will be fixed, as the krpano player is involved too in its fix .

We agree that a fix has to be found ASAP .

I noticed that when I didn't use the little planet effect at start or on subsequent panos, the tour works flawlessly on Chrome. It worked in both "localhost" and live on my website.

As I mentioned in my previous post it is not happening on all installations of Chrome. Also, I have found it will sometimes crash on the initial load and if you click reload it will work fine from then on. Other times it will continue to crash. I have no problem on my work PC, very similar to my home PC that crashes on Chrome with almost every tour. May be very hard to track down as there are so many variables.

To all,

We may have found the reason of the crash .
We asked Klaus Reinfeld (Krpano developper) for confirmation and advices but we do not have any answer yet.

So, here is a check that you can all do, that will probably fix the issue.

1/ Once the tour is built, edit the file : mytour_core.xml .
2/ Find the action called : mainloadsceneStartup
Its current code is :

Code: Select all
  <action name="mainloadsceneStartup">
    loadscene(%1, get(projection_current_params), MERGE, get(ptblendmode));
  </action>

3/ Remove the last parameter of the loadscene action call.
The new code of the action will be :
Code: Select all
  <action name="mainloadsceneStartup">
    loadscene(%1, get(projection_current_params), MERGE);
  </action>

4/ Save the file, and reload the tour in Chrome browser. And in IE for those of you that reproduce the crash on IE .

Does it work on your side ?
