Panotour Crashes Chrome

by kapture » Wed Jun 15, 2016 11:08 pm

Does anybody have any experience with tour crashing Chrome when loading. This occurs with a simple one image tour across all OS platforms. Chrome crashes intermittently and at completely random time intervals. The tours perform perfectly on all other browsers. The tour contains basic control components.

My client is having the same problem right now with Panotour 2.5 and the newest Chrome. All other Browsers are working.

This is the Link for the Beta Project:

Is there a Solution for this problem?

Still trying to isolate this issue, have tried a number of fixes from within Panotour setting etc without any luck. I have replicated my tours using ver 2.3.2 without the errors, so I think it has something to do with the way Panotour renders the code which in certain instances chrome doest like. As I said I have intermittent errors, some computers can view the tour no problem in chrome while others Aw Snap immediately on load regardless of any changes I have made.

A variet of Mac OS - El Capitan, Yosemite,
And a number of Windows 7, 8

All crashes intermittent. I can create a show that works perfectly, but the next one I make using the same elements crashes chrome. Some tours work fine on some machines but not on others all running same version (latest) of chrome. Happening on all 2.5 versions of PTP.

i work with a macbookpro i7 Retina. With all newest Version of all Programs. My Tour is running well.
But not on the System from my Client.
My Client is working with this stuff:

-Windows 7 64 bit - Google Chrome Version 51.0.2704.103 m 64-bit

-Mac Book pro - Retina display - 15" with the older Google Chrome 64-bit Version. Same Problem. He tested the old Version of Chrome and the new one.

I think ist a Google Chrome 64bit - Problem.

What can we do so far? My Client must go online with this Products. There are some Special Products in the Tour for a limited time.

Thank you

Same problem here with 64 bit Chrome. If I turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available" it does not crash but 360 images on Facebook will not work.

No feedback from Kolor on this Chrome crashing problem which renders the whole software package and the process useless if my clients cannot view their tours without crashes. This badly affects our credibility as a company and is seriously detrimental to our business. Can anybody suggest a work around or alternative.

Any update on this?

I experience the same problem. Our tour crashes on the latest version of Google Chrome, but works perfectly on all other browsers + iOS browsers.

I can avoid this crash by interacting with the little planet effect on the first pano.

Panotour Pro 2.5.3 64bits
Google Chrome Version 51.0.2704.103 (64-bit)
OSX 10.11.5

I would love to show a tour link by PM to any Kolor Team member.

I had to go back to Panotour Pro 2.3.2 in order to be able to have a crash-free Google Chrome experience. The tour is exactly the same, with the only difference a missing WebVR button.

Panotour Pro 2.5.0 to 2.5.3 is not production ready for me.
What a waste of time it has been so far. :(

Dani, yes I could open my 2.5 .kpt file in Panotour Pro 2.3, but got an error message as the WebVR button plugin is missing (which you can ignore). I don't have any video in this project, so not sure what would happen to that.

I suggest to make a backups first though from your project + application folder.

To all,

1/ When you experience a crash of the tour with last version of Chrome, how many tabs are opened in your chrome session ?

2/ Do you have the crash, whatever the number of tabs ?

3/ Do you have the crash on a fresh session of Chrome : newly opened Chrome without any tab opened ?

Thanks a lot for those precisions,
We need them as we do not reproduce such issue with last version of Chrome and with tours done with 2.5.3 .

Hi Gérald,

1/ Yes latest version of Chrome 51.0.2704.103, just one tab opened (the tour itself)
2/ The crash has nothing to do with the number of tabs, it seems like some sort of initialisation (memory overload) issue in the generated code. I can 'avoid' the crash, by moving the pano while the intro little planet effect takes place.
3/ Yes, the crash happens on a fresh session of Chrome.

I will PM you a link to our problematic tour, so you can check it out.

Thanks,
Peter.

I am using version 2.5.3 64 bit and my tour crashes when the pano is first loaded with a mouse movement, if the page is reloaded after the crash it works OK. I am using the latest version of Chrome. This is an urgent issue.

To Kolor Support - This Chrome crash issue is a consistent and serious bug in all 2.5 versions of panotour.. it renders panotour totally unusable as a delivery platform.

Please provide a fix asap! We have many clients waiting..and cannot deliver their projects until this bug is fixed. Please reply to this forum with a fix asap!

To all,

many of you sent me URLs of tour "that crashes Chrome latest version".
"Of course" those tour did not crash the different Chrome browsers I checked on different platforms.

So can you all tell me what occurs when :

1/ you add ?html5=never at the end of the tour URL for exemple :
Code: Select all
  http://www.mywebsite.be/mytourpath/mytourfile.html?html5=never

2/ you add ?html5=always at the end of the tour URL for exemple :
Code: Select all
  http://www.mywebsite.be/mytourpath/mytourfile.html?html5=always

3/ you add ?html5=css3d at the end of the tour URL for exemple :
Code: Select all
  http://www.mywebsite.be/mytourpath/mytourfile.html?html5=css3d

4/ you add ?html5=fallback at the end of the tour URL for exemple :
Code: Select all
  http://www.mywebsite.be/mytourpath/mytourfile.html?html5=fallback

1/ ?html5=never shows the little planet image + splash logo, background audio starts, but no little planet transition effect or other elements show up (no navigation or interaction possible). I can switch to normal view via the context menu. It won't crash Google Chrome though.

2/ ?html5=always = crash as I have been experiencing it before.

3/ ?html5=css3d = no crash, but no little planets possible (Little Planet also does not show up in context menu). Naivation + elements do work.

4/ ?html5=fallback = same effect as 1/ ?html5=never

Thanks for your tests.

Can you do the following ?

1/ Edit the file called " mytour_core.xml " . You'll find it in the "mytourdata" directory

2/ In this file find the action named "startLittlePlanetIntroEffect"

3/ In this action there are the following lines :
Code: Select all
      if (sceneisfull360,
        wait(0);
        fromlittleplanetintrotonormalview();
      );

4/ Delete the "wait(0);" line . Then the code will be :
Code: Select all
      if (sceneisfull360,
        fromlittleplanetintrotonormalview();
      );

5/ Save the file and , re-do a check of your tour in Chrome browser
