build_messages_en.xml ENCRYPTED = no scene text description

by macalenny » Wed Sep 23, 2015 3:07 am

Hello,

I have a tour with an info button that activates the scene text description.

All was working until I re-uploaded an encrypted version of the build_messages_en.xml file.

(encrypted using KR Pano tools)

This is odd because other parts of that xml code are working and being used, such as the hot spot tool tips.

Any idea how to fix this or why this might occur?

Many thanks

Hi.. Are you the one that encrypted that xml... If you are, then krpano provides an option to keep the original xml. Make sure you do not Compress the xml. Uptick that option, its ticked by default.. If you have that code file, all you need to do is open it into a text editor and save it as your original xml file..

If you are not the ordinal owner of that xml file and someone encrypted it, that is why the encryption precess is offered. To stop others using their code.. I often encrypt my xml files to protect my efforts...

Thanks,

yes I am the one that encrypted it as I do not want my client changing anything inside the code, like links and text etc.

So I have the original un-encrypted code, but I want it to be encrypted and still have the description display properly

Well it should all work.. Encryption should not change the operation of your Tour..

Try clearing all your caches..

Hey.. I have just ran a test using the latest PTP B3, which uses the latest krpano player and using the latest krpano tools to encrypt my xml files.. Now nothing works.. There might be a bug... I will run some more tests...

What version of krpano tools are you using..??

I have just done the encryption again unpicking the Private Encryption which I do not know what that is.. but all the xml is encrypted and everything works fine....

Try using the latest krpano tools.. uptick the 'private' and 'compression'.. See how you go with that...

Sad to say there might still be an issue.. I added a Description which works fine with un-encrypted xml, I can see the text fine.. But as soon as I add the encrypted xml, the text message in the Description says,"Undefined".. That should not be... I suspect a bug.. =(

OK thanks,

do you think I could use a partially encrypted xml file? for example leave the description info and function un-encrypted, and combine with the rest of the encrypted file.

Perhaps not using he krpano encryptor.. But there are online xml encryptors where you can select parts of the code to encrypt.. Not sure about them though. I have only ever used html encryptors on line to encrypt parts of my html code.. But I do not think they provide 100% protection of code....

I hope Kolor or Klaus from krpano comes to the Forum this evening and has an answers to this issue..

OK Thanks,

I went ahead and made a combination xml file of partially encrypted and un-encrypted code.

Un-encrypted portion of course containing my subject issue of scene description not displaying once encrypted.

Anyway, it worked for my needs (although this extra step should not be necessary), here's the way the code worked:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<krpano>

Hey..

Silly me... I forget... PTP has its own Encryption of the XML code.. It works fine.. I have just tested it .. No issues at all.. All the xml files are encrypted..

How are you encrypting your xml...??

Strange that the krpano encryption does not work.. Not to worry, PTP does.. =D

Looking at the PTP encrypted XML files, only the messages.xml is not encrypted which makes sense as to why I got "Undefined"... So I am guessing that as long as you do not encrypt the messages.xml file, you can use the krpano tools.. I will test that theory.....

Messages xml file is not designed to be encrypted. Panotour doesn't encrypt this one even if you check the encryption checkbox into the Build screen.

Why ?
Simply because this file is read by the HTML5 plugins and so the HTML5 plugins cannot remove the krpano encryption and so cannot read the file content.
