Tour Loading Slowly

by PatchPic » Wed Apr 09, 2014 5:40 pm

I have uploaded a large tour with 40 360 x 180 degree panoramas. I am trying to understand how the loading of the tour works so it is not so slow. Are there things I can do to so it loads faster initially? What loads when someone goes to the tour? I thought it would only load the first image and music, but it's obviously loading much more because it takes a few minutes for the first image to show. After that, it plays fairly well (less some of the bugs I need to work out). I will post another version of the tour after some changes.
Maybe it's fine, and all I need is a splash page.

The audio file(s) will load before the first pano is displayed.

How large are your audio files?

Each image has an audio file with it. That explains a lot about the long loading. I guess a splash screen is needed to let people know what is happening. In my tests of the splash screen, however, it seems they do not close automatically when the first image loads. Am I stuck with guessing a load time?

Sadly the preload action of sounds is done prior to the load of the splashscreen.

Once your tour is built you can edit the xxx_skin.xml file and remove some sounds from the preloadSounds action.

We have to add some parameters in PTP that allows you to tell us which sounds should be preloaded.
