Gyro: Edge Browser

by All Seeing One » Thu Aug 23, 2018 5:34 pm

So today I bought a Surface Go looking forward to being able to run my local HTML code and finally use the Gyro features.

As usual the Tours run fine locally. But no gyro button or features. Went online to some of my recent tours that are on the net, again no gyro button or features.

Use an iPad and it works. Tested the gyro and it's definitely working so is it an Edge thing? if so will it be fixed?

Apparently the Surface Tablets report themselves as PCs rather than mobile devices so the Panotour program is deactivating the Gyro button thinking it isn't applicable.
Can the team kindly advise how I can force the button to appear so as I can create a custom build for running on these devices locally.
Edge browser on iPad works with web hosted version of the tour so it would seem the culprit is the above issue.

Your right it's the desktop detection which is linked to this issue. No solution at this time. Only a code edit can do it to change the device detection for Edge, but it will also applied on desktop PC with Edge.

Hi Benjamin,

"Only a code edit can do it to change the device detection for Edge, but it will also applied on desktop PC with Edge."

Can you clarify what you mean by code edit. Do you mean I "can" force the button to appear. I wouldn't put such a change into web hosted tours, I just want to make a separate tour only for use locally on my Surface tablet for testing.

Yes it's a manual edit of the generated code into the YOURTOURNAME_skin.xml file of the YOURTOURNAMEdata directory.
You have to find the device.mobile or device.desktop detection into the specified plugin and change it.
Here is the krpano documentation about the device detection: https://krpano.com/docu/actions/#device.desktop

Hi Benjamin,

I freely admit to knowing nothing of HTML coding. If I sent you the _skin.xml file from the tour in question would you kindly be able to highlight the bits I need to change and to what?

It's not HTML coding.
It's krpano based on xml tags.
Add the _skin.xml file here and I will tell you where edit it for learning purpose.

Try this edit into the <plugin name="gyroscope" ...> tag of the YOURTOURNAME_skin.xml file.

Replace
Code: Select all
devices="no-desktop.and.html5"

By
Code: Select all
devices="no-desktop.and.html5.or.desktop.and.html5.and.windows.and.touch.and.ie.or.desktop.and.html5.and.windows.and.touch.and.edge"
