Insta 360 Pictures and Panotour

by kiteworldwide_josie1 » Thu Jan 04, 2018 3:31 pm

Hey there,

I'm just getting started on the whole 360 theme here.
I have an Insta360 and made some pictures with it (.insta and .dng). I wanted to edit the .dng files with lightroom and then upload them to Panotour to create a virtual tour from still pictures.
Now here is my problem: I have 2 different types of files. #1 are the .insp files, those are panoramic and stitched already (but I can't edit them on lightroom) and #2 the.dng files, which I can edit and import easily, but the virtual tour doesn't work. What do I need to do with the files before creating a virtual tour?
I'm clueless what to do. Thanks a ton in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Josie

You need to convert the files to one of the supported file formats, i guess Lightroom will be capable of saving as different file type: http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Panotour_-_Tour_-_Add_a_Scene#Supported_Files_Types
Out now: DeviceCheck for PTP plugins! https://www.kolor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=37446

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

I tried to convert the .insp files with Lightroom and PS already, but both of them are not able to open those.
After that I tried to make a tour from the .dng files by converting them into .jpeg. But that didn't work out either.

I was thinking - do I need an additional stitching software maybe? Because my .dng and .jpeg files don't look like a panoramic but more like little planets.

Cheers,
Josie

Are the DNG-files the front and back side of each shot? Then they need to be stiched together. I don't know if there is a solution that comes with the camera, but you can use other software like Kolor's Autopano, according to the documentation it does support DNG-files: http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/Autopano_Pro_-_Supported_file_format_in_input
Hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/) is a free alternative you might give a try, not sure if it supports DNG or if they need to be converted first.
