TTF fonts only show as Italics

by Sky Avenue » Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:35 am

I just want to make the panorama menu display custom ttf fonts.
I followed the instructions, and the font shows up on the built tour, but only in italics (even though 'regular' font was selected in the plugin).
I tried this with 2 different fonts, with the same result.
One thing I noticed is that the mytourdata/fonts folder (which is generated automatically on tour build), only contains the italics version of the TTF files of the fonts I selected and saved into the Documents/Kolor/PanotourPro 2/Fonts folder. When I delete all of the unused ttf files of the same font (italics, bold, light etc. and just leave one in the Kolor folder, it works. Seems as though Panotour can only recognise one ttf file per font type?

This seems to be a bug?

I'm only working locally so far, so can't give you a link, but can post code from files if required.

Thanks in advance.

How is your font detected in the font selector?

I mean, do you have YOURFONT Regular, YOURFONT Bold, YOURFONT Italics as separate entries or are they all joined into one YOURFONT ?

I'll have to do some tests with fonts that have several versions.

I've just tested with the free font Arvin ( http://www.dafont.com/arvin.font )
I added all the ttf files to PTP's font folder, and also installed them all.
In PTP I selected the font and set it to Regular, the text in my tour isn't italicised.

(Open the GIF in a new tab, the forum preview is very buggy for gifs)

Hi Annis,

Thanks for taking a look!

I have fonts with separate multiple ttf files like your example font (see attached screen shot of the folder structure where I saved them).

Font folder structure

What I noticed is that Panotour only builds the last font file in the list with the same name e.g. as per the screen shot, I selected "Raleway-Medium.ttf" in the pligin, but "Raleway-Thinitalic.ttf" is what displays in the tour.
The "Raleway-Thinitalic" font file is the only one created in the /mytourdata/font/ folder, even though all of these font files were added to the font folder.

If what I am guessing is correct, your example is showing the last font on the list: "Arvin.ttf". Try selecting the Bold Italic Arvin font in your example tour plugin, and I think only the standard Arvin font will be displayed in your tour.

I think you are right there is an issue here.

The font displayed correctly but the font in the built tour was Arvin.ttf . I tried with another that had multiple files but it's a demo font, so the name is FONT_Bold_Demo.tff (this one if you want to try). In this case, it actually works and added the correct file, so it looks like it's really a detection issue in the name. I'll file a bug report.

Can you confirm the font integration worked with that demo font?

Yes, with the demo font, the sub-font selected in the plugin was correctly copied into the mytourdata/fonts folder and displayed correctly in the tour.
Yet, when I select a different font altogether, it only copies the last font file in the font list to the mytourdata/fonts folder and displays this one in the tour. If I manually copy a new font file to the mytourdata/font folder, it displays this when you refresh the tour browser (but overwrites with the wrong file when you build the tour.

One thing I noticed with the demo font is that it is an OTF (not TTF) font type. I tried using another OTF file, but it did not work, so there is some other reason that some fonts will be correctly selected from a list and others wont.

Same issue here with Google font "Roboto"
Only the last font of user's directory is added:
Captura de pantalla 2017-07-24 a la(s) 12.18.59.jpg

Code: Select all
}

         @font-face {
            font-family: 'Roboto';
            src: url('Panodata/fonts/Roboto-ThinItalic.ttf');
         }

Inside Panotour I can see all the family:

Thanks, I'll add that to the report.
