How to open Videos in VR mode

by Vishal Mathur » Mon Mar 06, 2017 11:08 am

Hi All,
I have a specific requirement to start the tour in VR with an interview video & then the interactive hotspots for navigation. I have tried many times but the video does not start by itself in the start of the tour in VR mode.
Also can we activate a hotspot to open a video in VR (Basically by looking at a specific button or hotspot & as an action it opens up a video).
Looking forward for all the suggestions & way around.
Br - Vishal

The display a video action is not available in VR Mode, it isn't compatible.

To start a video on mobile (VR Mode or not) requires a physical user interaction with the screen (touch the screen), which is a general mobile limitation.

Thanks annis. Touch can be done in the start of the tour & then phone being placed in the HMD but how will the user touch again if the 2nd video is to be played? Considering that now the phone is inside the HMD & mounted on head of the user.
Any other way around?

The touch at the start of the tour (which is why there is an intermediary screen!) only works for the video in the first scene.

There is no way to work around this limitation, videos will always require a physical user touch to start, which is why we don't recommend videos beyond the first scene for VR Mode.

Hi Annis
Isn't there a way to go around this ?
For example make the hotspot video start when we point it with the cursor in the VR mode ?
Thanks

Another quick question
Is that normal that the label of the hotspots are not displayed in VR mode ?
Thanks for your help

To talk again about video hotspot. When using the cursor to make an action on a hotspot (which is not video) it make an action. Why is it so difficult to make the PLAY action instead of loading another panorama ?
Or at least if not possible to launch automatically the video hotspot when loading the new panorama :)
Thakns

There are no tooltips in VR mode. As is explained in the VR Mode documentation: http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/vie ... _-_VR_Mode

Because the mobile blocks it.
On the web on mobiles, sounds and videos are blocked from autoplaying, and will always require the user to physically start the video. There is no way around this, which is why I said that it is a general mobile limitation.

Once the video has been initiated once by the user touching the screen, you can use the cursor to pause/play the video, but not before.
