Openstreet Map

by edgar_ali » Tue Aug 23, 2016 1:46 am

I have just realised that when I select Openstreet Maps for the PanotourMaps pluggin, save that selection, then quit the software (panotour) and then open it again, the pluging panotour maps have google maps selected instead of openstreet map, which was my previous saved selection.

Please advise

If you rebuild the tour without changing the visible parameters of the panotour maps, in your tour is it still openstreet maps or has it been changed to google maps there too?
It could just be a 'visual' bug in Panotour.

Annis:

I rebuild the tour and made sure it was open street maps. After I rebuilt the tour I saved it and closed the file (.kpt). Then when I opened again it was in Googlemaps again.

I tried this in Windows and Mac. In both system happened the same.

Please advise.

That's not what I asked.

If you reopen the project, it's moved back to Google Maps, okay, there is a bug somewhere. Now rebuild, which map opens in the actual tour: openstreet maps or google maps?

If it's still openstreet maps, it's just a visual bug in PTP, if it's google maps, it's something more.

So which is it?

The answers to your questions are:

1. Yes..If you select open street maps, then close the project and then re-open it again, the plugging move back to google maps
2. when building the tour, the map is openstreet map, not googlemaps. The actual tour open open street maps

An additional question in regards to plugging:

Why the plugging for open a current spot descried has been deprecated?...is it going to be eliminated?

What can I do if I want to have an specific spot description?

Do not worry about the spot description... I figured out that I need to add to the workspace, two "Description" (text zone) from the pluggins library, one for the spot description and another for the slide description...

It would be good to look at that bug in the panotour pluggins, since it is annoying that you may save your project with openstreet maps, then re-open the project and build the tour without remembering that this is happening and then at the end you will end up with a tour containing a map provider that you do not want there.

And if you view the tour properly (online) instead of using Panotour Viewer, what map displays and does it work?

Panotour Viewer won't work on desktop if you've already launched a tour through PTP (meaning at the same time), since they use the both use the same server.

I'll see if I can reproduce your bug.

I was not launching the tour on ptp from my desktop, I was just launching the tour from pano tour viewer....

However the problem is not in my desktop, is in my phone.

On the desktop it opens the map from openstreet

The tour works properly on the desktop but in the phone does not open the map

I have not posted the tour online... And it is also very important for me that this should work since I will be delivering the tour so people can see it off line

PTViewer is a reasonable app to test but nothing beyond that since it is fraught with limitations. It is slow, does not support many file types and demands immense amounts of resources from the devices to read the file, since it is continually unzipping and decompressing files, then re compressing them. This can also take a while which mobiles will interpret as non-responsiveness and stop the call. It could be the issue here.

If you want to have your tour offline on a mobile, you need to develop an app with the tour in it.

And I can not reproduce your issue of the Panotour Maps plugin resetting to Google Maps from Openstreet Maps on reload of a project.

Are you able to reproduce the issue with another or new project or is it limited to the one?

I try with a different project and it is the same.
Did not understand the part that you wrote saying that. "And I can not reproduce your issue of the Panotour Maps plugin resetting to Google Maps from Openstreet Maps on reload of a project."

What do you mean by that?

Certainly understand that issues around the viewer...

Maybe Kolor should assess the feasibility of developing a better viewer and charge for it...

Sell it as a complement of panotour.

In your original posts you were indicating that when you opened a project again in Panotour, the PanotourMaps plugin would reset to show Google Maps selected instead of Openstreet Maps. I was not able to reproduce the issue.

Have you tried PTP 2.5.4?

A new virtual tour viewer is actually in the works, codename KEN but there isn't much information available at the moment: http://www.kolor.com/2016/05/25/ivrpa-q ... ogies/#KEN

This is a video showing the issue:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/g1iax7jzl04m8 ... 1.avi?dl=0

The video start when I save the option for openstreet maps, then close the file, re-open it and you will see that google maps is still there, even when I selected openstreet maps and saved it.

need to wait a couple of seconds from the moment i close the file and then re-open it.

This same problem happens in my MAC as well...

Thank you for the video. I'll transfer it to the devs.

You said you tried with a different project, but not if you tried with a new one?
Or removed that plugin and reinserted it since updating the Panotour version? If it's an old project, you're not using the updated version of the plugin.

Can you share your .kpt file (just the kpt, it doesn't contain any of the source panoramas, images or anything) with me? (You can PM it if you want)
