Popup Text Window

by signmaster » Tue May 31, 2016 3:23 pm

Is there a plugin available that will open a text window when a hotspot is clicked?

You could either use a description (spot description) or a website box and display a local html file.

Thanks Annis
I have tried both of them but I need the box to open by clicking on a hotspot. The reason for that is there will be quite a number of hotspots on an image that will require a text box to pop up when clicked. May not be possible?
One solution I have thought of is using the picture hotspot and create an image with the necessary text but this may not work well on all screen sizes?

Hi... You can add a Description to a Hotspot.. As many as you like.. As long as you do not have them arrive animated, you can set the Description to auto close on opening a new Description.. Just add the Description Plugin, set the parameters, then asking a Hotspot to the Description.. Each time you add a Hotspot to the Tour an new Description option will be available to add text to... or you can add an image via message xml hand coding..

Thanks Destiny
That was most helpful. I am not familiar with xml coding, do you have a link with some instructions?

Add some text in the Description so you can recognise the exact line of code in the Message xml..

Then edit it to something like this..

<data name="en_pano9_description"></data>

Hi !
I was wondering about the same question.
I'm using pano descriptions for a tour, and a custom simple button makes it appear on left bottom corner or disappear. It works well and I'm happy.
Now, I would like a second button in the menu that displays a second text window. So I created this button, added another description zone on top right corner.
Of course, when I click on the second button, the second window displays the same text than the first one : the pano description. I would like to change this text...

Inside skin.xlm I see this :
Code: Select all
<action name="showDescription_description1">
   if(ptplugin[description1].canStart,
      set(ptplugin[description1].descID, get(scene[get(xml.scene)].descriptionid));
      if(ptplugin[description1].descID == null,
         set(ptplugin[description1].descID, "");
      );
      if(ptplugin[description1].descID != "",
         openDescription_description1();
      ,
         hideKolorArea_description1(false);
      );
      set(ptplugin[description1].startMethod, "");
   );
</action>

How can I change "get(scene[get(xml.scene)].descriptionid)" with my own text ?

Sorry to say, you cannot.. I put in for a feature request a while back... You can only auto replace the Description box where no animation has been added... Then it works well..

@aircamera, use a website box to display your text in this case, as a scene can only have one description and buttons do not have descriptions.

You can display anything you want in a website box, so you can add an html file to your tour's data files with all the custom text, images, links, etc that you want.

Hi... Yes, you can add Text and and Image in the same Description box.. I can see your url is Users.. that means the image is on your system.. You need to upload it to your sever and provide the full remote url..
