Custom pop up windows

by markellos » Wed Apr 20, 2016 11:55 am

Dear sirs, I need your assistance please, it is very urgent and critical for my professional work.

I have a project with 100 panoramas. I have to assign into each panorama many spots (spots NOT buttons) that have to open a "popup window" with information including picture(s) and a couple of paragraphs of body text at each spot. These spots will be more than 10 in each panorama and as I mentioned my project will include 100 panoramas. I am a logical person, but studying your tutorials and getting deeper into your way of programming, caused me a brain aneurysm.

So I REALLY hope that I am totally wrong: Is it true that adding multiple custom made popup windows assigned to spots into 360 prespective is not possible? Or I have to add tons of double instances of "plugins" and "buttons" sets, which buttons will park at the edge of the screen and will not be a part of the 360?

Your software is legaly purchased. I was just trying for hours to find a function or a logical solution that it took me 30 seconds to get with the Tourweaver 7.98 Professional Edition (which is not purchased because I decided to go with you - so please prove me right)

EXAMPLE: Think of a Shop's window that I need to have more information on any product placed on the shelf.

Please It is very important to have your reply asap, and believe me, I really hope that it's my stupid mind and not your software capabilities.

PS: Even if it is possible (something that I pray for), It is not made the way it should be, the workflow is not logical.

Best Regards

Hmmm. I see. I will reply to myself then.
" Dear customer. We have checked your problem and our suggestion is to look for another software, since ours does not have that kind of functions, and also we do not have the will to support you proffesionally". It was nice getting your money, but now we do not believe that we have any other reason to have any kind of relation with you and your problems. We suggest you to use Tourweaver 7.98 Professional Edition which is capable and have all tha functions that you need. Feel free to contact us if you need to pay as some more for no reason "

What I understood is that each of your spot do the same thing with a different parameter.

OK, PTP is done for that.

Create a single spot style that does this single action.

Than in each panorama place your spot, select this style, and set the parameter.
Only one click for each spot created.

Re: Custom pop up windows

Look at the attachments. That's a test I made, very easily with the tourweaver. It's a custom popup window - WHICH THE SOFTWARE ALLOWS ME TO DUBLICATE IT WITH A SIMPLE COPY PASTE - that includes:
A header (left)
A photo
A video (right)
A body text
A close button

It is extremely easy to dublicate these pop ups 500 times, cause it works like you are making them in adobe's illustrator or similar.

And that's all I need.

I have not found any "custom pop up" function in my purchased software. Even if I select 2 different actions, such as IMAGE (which means that I have to make all my content dummy, in photoshop) and VIDEO, then the VIDEO plays behind the image, fullscreen. Which is not what anyone should need, in any way.

So, the question still remains:
Is it possible to make A CUSTOM MADE POP UP (or any kind of popup that will be suitable for the content I describe above) that will be opened with any kind of spots into the 360 prespective?

Sorry for my attitude, my head was very hot last week, and I have a deadline and I already told you that I am close to lose my job, for not having your answer when I needed it. Also I am very angry with the fact that I will need 750€ to buy another software, when I have alredy purchased the sofware that many told me that it is supposed to be one of the best.

So, nothing personal, only professional. I am a descent person, and I will be fair:
If this funtion is possible THE WAY I DESCRIBE ABOVE, and because I already said some very heavy words, not even I will give you my apologies, I will also apologise and promote your software in every forum and media possible, as I should.
I am not the kind of patient guys, but I am fair, I support and I appreciate someone's help.

So, please try to give me some useful information, because the timelines are very strict and I have to take some decisions that have to do with my professional career.

I am not aware of such a function in Panotour Pro.

Did you try out PTP before purchase to see if it met your requirements?

I see you unlocked my post. Ok then, I answer to your question my friend.

YES I HAD TESTED the software before buying. It was ok for the functions i needed for the project I had initially got it for. The current project (the second of my life) is something I got many months later, and came as result of my first project.

No, I didn't searched in depth before the purchase since i had all I needed for the first simple project, sorry for this.
But your company helped me to get a second, better 360 project. And now, it's the diffcult part, whe day of crisis: Is your software capable of walking with me into more professional roads?

So, let's go, I have purchased Kolor's software. And your companie's kind of logic is trying to prove me wrong for this decision!! What a logic my friends!

So right now I am in a very difficult position, since it is very difficult due to my budget to get another software, and I made a simple question: Is it possible to make a custom pop up window as I describe it above, the way it VERY EASY and possible to make in Tourweaver professional?

In your "actions", since you have decided to work with this weid logic instead of direct content into any link (in my opinion, I do not demand from anyone to agree) there is NO CUSTOM POP UP function. I so not see a way to design a custom pop up with contents of my selection.

So, If I am right, WHY DONT YOU MAKE IT?
- Is it me the only one who need to have custom content on a spot?
- Do you believe that your software is complete and powerful without having this very logical and useful function?

I have just described a professional need of any professional designer/photographer. Right now as I see, It is a nightmare to make a 100 panoramas project with 10 or more spots with custom content with your software. The only way is to make dummy content in photoshop and place it as images. As a workflow, it's dummy (cause there is no way to have active content into this) and insane.

Not any of us have asked for a cheap software with limited functions. As I said, many would pay extra for this function for sure, if this is the problem. Any professional would.

Hi.. There are several ways to add a Pop-up Window into PTP.. I have added the use of the Description plugin in this demo.. Is this the kind of thing you are requesting..?? http://www.destinyvirtualtours.com/PTPp ... ption.html
I have added a graphic with text into each pano.. These will change according to the pano being displays. They can be opened using a simple pano specific button which you can make yourself to customise your Tour. The Widow can be closed by either clicking on the Window or the X button..

You can also add a Description Pop-up Window to a hotspot rather than a button...

Or you can add an image to the hotspots with the information about the products.. http://www.destinyvirtualtours.com/Imag ... /test.html You can also add a Website box with information which can easily be updated by the client when prices change..

You will need to learn how to use PTP to accomplish the above.. I can guild you in this..

Destiny....

Dear Destiny, can you please assist me how to place the photo on top of the pop up description?
Right now, the only possibility I see is to add a photo or a video at the background. I do not see the way to place extra content INTO (integrated) the pop up window.

Hi.. Create some related text, just a word will do so you know which of the lines of code you need to edit the appropriate Description xml code.. Then upload your images to a folder.. Its best to add the full url to those images.. You need to make sure about the size of the Description Box in relation to your images. You can add text to your images which saves you issues with where the text is in relation to the image... This is the kind of code you will have in your messages xml..

<data name="en_pano10_description"></data>

If you only have one basic Description appear in the pano it will all work without issues. However, if you have a popup/down Animated Description, you will need to close the open one before the new one will open. This is achieved either by using the X close or set it to close on click the Description Box or click once on a new hotspot which will close the open one and then click again.. Thats a bit fiddly so I have requested a feature where it just closes on new Description opening.. I hope this feature is added soon...

Here is a demo with two seperate Description Plugins.. I have not added the images... But follow the instruction above and it will work.. The images need to be on a remote server to work.. It will not work locally..

Dear Destiny, i really appreciate your help, and i want to thank you for your interest in my problem. But this workflow is a nightmare when my project is about 4 or more cruise ships, with 100 panoramas each one, with 10 points of interest each panorama, with photos, videos and sounds each point into each popup. Also, running locally is necessary.

I am also very very disapointed by Kolor. THERE IS NO SUPPORT. I have contacted with easypano, they have answered all of my questions, they have also gave me a big discount.

So, i have to ask one final time KOLOR itself, if they read this forum.

A) is there a logical way to easily build popups with the specs above? I do not want to spent a year of my life for a 2 month's budget project.
B) It it possible to resolve this issue into the next 30 days with a new plugin?? Thats all the time ive got before my deadlines and the post procedure.

I am looking forward for an official answer from Kolor, or ill have to go with easypano.

I do not have a problem to pay some more. I believe that anyone has to get paid for his work.

Hi.. You can add your media into a Website Box but it will not Popup as you requested in your first post.. However, its still nice... A Description has some limitations but it can look nice.. However, you will need to do hand coding do achieve what I have added and since you say you have a lot of them, a Description might not be the way to go... Using the Website Box would be your best option.. You can add any media in that very easily.. No matter what software you use, you will still need to add media..

Use a website box with a local html file that you'll add to your tour's data folder.
In this HTML file, you can display anything you want, images, text, links, sound files, youtube videos, anything because it's a web page.

You'll only need to set up one spot style, with the action of opening a website box, and then set up the relative path to your file.
Or you could create different styles if you want to use different box styles but that is entirely up to you.

Have a look here:
- For the steps (at the screenshots, as the instructions are in French, and I can translate them if you want) viewtopic.php?f=93&t=31326&hilit=website+box#p181574
- Example result: Image

You don't need a new plugin.

To view any sort of virtual tour, it needs to be viewed through a web server (which is what you get when you use the green button in PTP) but other than that yes it'll work locally, since they're local html files.

I can send you an example html file if you like, but it'll be very basic I don't code.

I made it to work with html files locally with the help of the panoviewer.

So, I did it this way:
Local html files into the same folder of the main html file of my 360 application
relative html structure
access with panotour viewer

I noticed that most of the functions do not work offline or without a server simulation.
So logically, I have to give the panotourviewer included with my 360 application to my customers in order to make it work.

Is it ok with the rules and rights of the software?

Yes you can share the tour with your clients with PTViewer.

You'll have to copy the HTML files into the ptv file since they're not part of the actual built tour.
It's easy though : http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/vie ... g_your_PTV

This will do. Even though it requires extra software (like dreamweaver) to build the pop ups, for my project I see that It will work. Those who may not be familiar with html may find it tricky, personally I am well familiar with dreamweaver. Thanks. You may consider the topic closed.
