PTP2.3.2 Only displays part of the 360 panos.

Hi Guys

I have just built the first tour using PTP2.3.2 and there appears to be a problem in that it only displays around 300 of the 360 degree views.
http://www.360virtual-tours.net/Demo/MeadowView/videodemo.html
Each scene, when run in autotour, only runs part of the way round before moving to the next scene.
This was not the case in tours I produced using the previous version. Why? What has changed?

ps excuse the photography on this example, they are old images, we used in another software, and we are now updating this clients tour to html5. Our current images are much sharper... (This is a demo version only)

What settings are you using for Autotour?

Hi,

Im using the same settings as I always use...that is.... after full rotation... see image attached.

Hi Guys,

Looking at the tour again, it would appear as though the autotour rotation starts at 0 degrees (right hand side of the screen) and finishes at 0 degrees (Left hand side of screen)... so in doing this misses 1 complete field of view...in the example shown in my original post, this is 70 degrees.
I have never seen this before on earlier versions, and this makes the latest version unusable....for me at least....

Yes, that's what I observed too when viewing your tour, with Firefox on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS.

Hi Andrew, and all PTP users,

On further investigation I have found the following:
I have completely rebuild the tour, and with the FOV set at 90degrees, the pan runs the full 360 degrees..... Great.... However, if I set the FOV to 70 degrees, the pan only runs approx 300 degrees....

Surely this is a BUG and needs to be fixed.
Here is the edited tour, the first scene is at 90 Deg FOV and works fine, the second, 70 degrees and stops short.

I would like to be able to run with a FOV of 70 degrees, as it helps to reduce the lateral distortion, which some clients have commented on.

What lateral distortion - I don't see any here:

Hi Andrew,

Yes I know.... when viewed full screen there is no problem, for those of us who are used to seeing tours, however, when run inside an iframe, and viewed by an old lady, she comments that when the glass door comes into view, it is dostorted, and gradually becomes "normal" when viewed straight on. In other words, objects in the periphery are distorted - lateral distortion....
Unfortunately as she is not familiar with the PTP tours, she thinks they look a little odd. Hence by running at a 70 degree FOV the effect is reduced to a point where she thinks it looks OK.
Other people who are familiar with tours thinks its fine.
and we have vto try to keep the customers happy..

I feel that the downside of reducing the pano FOV to 70 degrees is that you end up feeling a bit as if you are peering through a keyhole.

I guess if the old lady is the one paying your fee...

Exactly... and I agree with the POV issue, but her last tour was produced using Tourweaver 3, and had a very small screen width, thus creating a narrow FOV.....

However..... the partial pan is the real issue here... and if it cannot be resolved, then I will have to downgrade to an earlier version that did work...

Hi

As I have had no reply as to whether this problem is a bug, and can be fixed, I have had to downgrade to PTP 2.3.1

Sorry for delay. I'll look for the issue on full sphere rotation.
Sure about the 2.3.1 version working ?
Because there is no real changes into autorotation-autotour algorithm between 2.3.1 and 2.3.2.
