Local PTP 2 on iPad...

by jarane » Wed Oct 01, 2014 3:32 am

Hi everyone,
does anyone know what is the best app to run PTP 2 generated tours local on an iPad?

Thanks in advance,
E.C.

It will be Panotour Viewer when that's available.

Yes. Download - only possible via iPads - the app: "html book" (you wouldn´t even find it using a desktop)
In your panorama´s folder duplicate the "tour.html" and rename the duplicate to "index.html".
Then zip the folder and put it on your server. Take your iPad, start "html book" and in the download-function
of "html book" go to your server. Download your .zip.

"html book" unzips it automatically and puts it into your bookshelf.
From here you can start the tour offline whenever you want.

We have a lot of tours on our iPads run locally this way. We generated them with PTP 1.8.

I hope - didn´t test it so far - it will also work with PTP 2.x generated tours. But i don´t see a reason
why it wouldn´t work.

Klaus

P.S.: works also with PTP 2.x generated tours as i just learned.

Thank you both for your responses.

@ Mediavets:
Any idea when PanoTour Viewer will be out?

@ Klauss:
I used HTML Books until a couple of days ago, when I did the iOS 8 update.
Unfortunately, HTML Books does not work in iOS 8, and it apparently does not to exist anymore.

I have tried several times to find it in the App Store and online with no success.

All the best,
E.C.

You can look after GoodReader, Filer, iFiles, ... or other apps like that.

PanotourViewer for iOS has been rejected by Apple for some reasons so we doesn't have a release date yet.

Thanks benji33,
I found that Sites-2-Go HD works well (so far), with PTP 2 generated panos.
It has some issues with earlier versions of PTP.

Just an idea: will there also be a "branding free" version of PanoTour Viewer?
(So that we can customize it to display our urn brand).

Thanks,
E.C.

Not yet planned. Panotour Viewer is branded yes, but is free.
