2.2 Beta PTV file?

by ERR » Sun Jul 06, 2014 10:25 pm

I can't seem to locate the "save as ptv" file in the beta 2.2? It's not "save as" and it's not "Export"? Where is it hiding?

Thanks,

Ed

It's a new option in the Build section options.

Found it but it has an error> "Can't find server at Localhost". Thoughts.

Have you downloaded and installed the Panotour Viewer program?:

Yes I have the viewer. V1.0.0 Beta1. That's what's giving me the error. Actually when I view the actual "html" build page everything is fine. It is only when I try and view the .ptv file I get the "Local Host" error. Firefox browser V 30.0

I will try it again tomorrow morning when I reboot. Hopefully with positive results.

Peace,

Ed

gelbuilding,

mediavets (as usual ;) ) is right. It's a check box in the build tab. Logically, we probably all looked under the "save as" option which might have been a more intuitive solution.

I'm not sure I agree. You still need to build the tour to view it, whether it is as a ptv or not, why would it be under "save as"? Saving as, to me anyway, is saving the projet and interacting with the not-yet-built tour.

Though it could have been placed somewhere more obvious in the build tab... Like Target > Viewer > Viewer.

It's just a matter of opinion/workflow preference.

Under "File" you have all the "save" options:
"Open Project
Save Project
Add Pano
Import/Export
Build Tour
Manage build files..."

Why not "build as .ptv"?

Yes you need to build the tour if you want to place it online. However, seeing that this format is specifically assigned for viewing tours offline why have two sets of files if you only want one or the other? Personally, if I only want to view it offline I don't need/want an extra set of files.

But as I said it's just a matter of personal workflow preferences. As long as it facilitates offline viewing I don't care where they put it so long as I can find it ;)

Peace,

Ed

Your screenshot shows you are running PTP 2.1.3.

The export to PTV file feature is in PTP 2.2 beta 1.
