Start a Virtual with a map

by Alex_83 » Tue Apr 01, 2014 10:30 am

Hello everybody!

I'm doing a virtual tour of a little village and i would like to know:

Is it possible start a virtual tour with a map (not with a hideable map) where the user click on a hotspot and then go to the chosen scene?
Then clicking on "home" button return to the map?

Thanks... Alex

Yes, just use a planar projection image of the map as the first 'pano/scene' in the tour.

I tried this, but it does a navigable image and the size of the image is zoomed...

It works for me.

Show me a screenshot of your first scene/map settings.

Thanks Mediavets for tips.

My sets for the image are the same of your. I only changed the zoom limit: max 100% & min 100% and unflagged the "limit to image resolution" so the image doesn't result zoomed;
I would like understand if there's a way to don't have a navigable image. (with planar projection)

I don't understand what you mean by a 'navigable image'.

For "navigable image" I mean that image scrolls downward and upward.
I would like a still image that covers all screen area. (without scrolling up-down and left-right)

If the display aspect ratio varies between viewing platforms the image could not cover the entire screen in every case without distortion.

How many scenes are there in your tour?

I would like to do a map like this:

http://www.museumshamilton.ca/backus/BackusMap1.html

where the user click on a scene and then returns to the map; i would not want a scrollable image like that, but an still image that cover all screen (in the browser).

Can you imagine that displayed map on a smartphone or a small tablet?

Do you plan to offer your tour to viewers using smartphones and tablets?

How many scenes are there in your village tour?

I have 12-15 scenes, and this tour will be displayed on desktops, tablets...

I'm understanding this way is difficult, so i'm thinking to open the tour with a splash screen with the map and then recall the same map with the plugin map...

Thanks mediavets for helps!

Yes, that sounds more practical.

I might have done it using custom thumbnails in a Thumbnails stack.

You could use a button plugin to invoke the map.

And/or use the Floorplan plugin for the map.
