PTV-File does NOT include all files of the tour. Why?

by frank007 » Thu Feb 12, 2015 3:46 pm

Hi Folks,

I produced a very large virtual tour with 58 html files (with websitebox plugin) and 120 videos. After creating the ptv file I see that the html and videos are NOT in the ptv. So it is useless for me if I want to show the tour on the iPad. Or did I something wrong?

Thank you for your answers
Best...
Frank

I don't know what the problem is but I rather doubt that such a large tour with so many videos would run on a iDevice with Panotour Viewer.

It works fine with goodreader.

I tried to put just one html page (via plugin) in the tour and exported it as ptv file. NO! No html page is shown. It is not included. Toooooo bad!

Hi.. You say that "After creating the ptv file I see that the html and videos are NOT in the ptv." How can you tell that. The Tour Assets are not supposed to be in PTV Viewer.. The Viewer just sits along side the normal Tour assets which allows you to view the Tour locally.. It acts like a Local Server.. But it still needs all the assets to use it..

I have my doubts if any Tablet could ever hold all those files you are suggesting. There is no difference between your normal build and the Viewer. The Viewer is just that, a Viewer.. If your html files and other files are not present in the same build folder that is your Tour build at fault and not the Viewer with the issue..

Hi Destiny,

my tour (just the panos) has the size of 280 mb. And with all html and videos it is 1,1 gb. The file size of the ptv is 280 mb. So I can say that the files are not included.

Ok, let me ask this way... Is the ptv file only usefull if I only want to show a virtual tour without any assets? (like audio, video etc)?

Thank you! Best regards
Frank

Are the HTML files and video files you mention on local disk or online resources?

AFAIK only local resources will be incorporated in a PTV file.

Hi Frank.. Sorry, I might be wrong.. I have just saved the PTV Viewer in a new location and it still works.. I was under the impression that it worked like the krpano Testing server.. But it seems to work more like the Adobe Director Player where it compasses the movie..

I need to test this more.. I will check out the tutorial on this..

For me it is important to produce one ptv file. And this I drag on the ipad in the PTV-App.

Hi Frank.. There info is is limited.. http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/vie ... umentation
It makes no mention to limitations.. Therefore would expect it to do as you want.. When you build your Tour, it should create a single PTV Viewer where you can copy over to your iDevices.. There are instructions on how to do this at the link above.. I am sure I tested this before using DropBox to get the PTV file. Not sure.. forget.. I will try it out again on my Samsung Note..

Ok Frank.. It appears that the PTV Viewer was on my to-do list.. ;)

I have now gotten the PTV Viewer with a test Tour working on my Samsung.. Now for testing other media like Video..

There is no mention on the link I added before on limitations, so there might be more info somewhere else on this.. But I will try to see what PTV does with video..

Funny, that my Sumaung has internet so my Contact Form still works. That has PHP and Java files so PTV embeds that fine.. =D

PTP for Android has been available for a while now but I was only the 500 person to download it..

What sort of URL(s) are you using for HTML files held locally when using a Web site box?

I have tried using local video (.mp4) invoked from a Point hotspot and that video gets incorporated in the PTV file, using PTP 2.3.0 on Windows 7 pro 64-bit.

I guess you know that you can explore the contents of a PTV file using many ZIP utilities?

It is a "normal" html file. IN this file there is also a video.

I do not use any ZIPs.

I placed the html like this:

I am confused. Are you saying the video file is referenced from the html file?

I do not use any ZIPs.

You misunderstood what I was saying. A PTV file is a ZIP file with a different filename extension.

So you can open/explore a PTV file to examine its contents using many ZIP utilities.

Hi.. Well the video works with PTV..

However, I have issues with the PTV Viewer on my Samsung Galaxy Note.. The first test worked ok when I was asked to open the PTV file after installing the software, but now it has issue. One moment its a white screen then next its black with no big PTV icon to open the files.. I added my second PTV Viewer file but had to turn my Samsung off and reopen it.. It then worked.. but not a second time.. It all locked up so I had to turn it off.

For me with my Samsung Galaxy Note, the PTV Viewer is useless.. I would hate to think what would happen if it was a large Tour.. I am only using a single test grid pano with a very small mp4 video, yet it will not open....
