video hotspot codec

by franzkekko » Sun Feb 23, 2014 1:44 pm

Hi all, I'm having trouble loading videos in my vtours.
The format is mp4 (360p) and I tried codec Divx and xvid but it doesn't work. I can ear audio but video is still black...
I also tried some other format like flv but the possible results are always the same: or I can ear only the audio, or nothing with the notice debug that video codec error.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance :)

MP4 with H.264 codec works for me.

Still not work for me...it was the codec I tried first. I also tried m4v h264 blu ray codec but still get this message:

Code: Select all
INFO: krpano 1.17.pr2 (build 2014-01-10)
INFO: Desktop/Win32 - Chrome 33.0 - WebGL
INFO: Panotour Pro V2.0.0 64bits
INFO: Registered to: sartorifrancesco92
ERROR: ilcappellaiomattodata/spots/backstage_1_1.m4v - loading video failed!

I'm saddened =(

You cannot use blue ray for this... That is your issue with the mp4.. You need to strip that from the mp4....

The ogg or ogg as it would have as a file extension, is fine but not good for all situation.. You really need to have your movies in different formats and have a call so the most appropriate format is used depending on you the hardware opening the movie.. You might consider the .webm as well..

MP4 is more accepting with most hardware types.... but might struggle with Devices partially mobile phones..
The files size of the ogv and webm are far less than the mp4, but its assumed they will display in a small window so they would be fine..

Destiny exporting in h.264 codec for mp4 format it's been my firt try. But it didn't work for me, don't know why. Starting file is a 1 minute mp4 (7MB) video downloaded from keepvid.com of a costumer's footage, but only audio works. Dimensions are not a problem, its quite small my hotspot.
So I started banging my head on the keyboard.
Is webm better? Ogg works fine but dimensions are increased to 11MB.

Thanks for your suggestions! :)
I really appreciate

Well.. size of video is not an issue as long as it is encoded right.. For that size video you will need a good player with auto buffing and auto streaming.. Your code also need to be written so the hardware can detect the most appropriate video format.. You cad also ad the FLV but that would need more thought...

<source src="#.mp4" type='video/mp4' />
<source src="#.webm" type='video/webm' />
<source src="#.ogv" type='video/ogg' />

The video url does not have to be in the same file structure.. You can actually stream it down from any remote source.. However, if you have a copy of the video, you can put that in any folder as long as you provide the url.. The best way to ensure your video is stripped of any useless data is to use an online encoder.. Many are free up to X gig..

A transcoder task is opened on our side to make mp4 compatibility for "web" devices.

Better way is to find a transcoder software (as HandBrake for instance) which allow you to select a "web" or "mobile" export.
By this way, mp4 files generated will be compatible with Panotour and tablet/mobile devices.

Why isn't it possible to give different file-pathes in xml or better direct in ptp2.
I tried as mentioned in krpano, but didn't worked.

<action name="onclickspotpoint446">displayVideo(%$videos_sounds_path%/spots/mortier.mp4|spots/mortier.webm|spots/mortier.ogv
,center,0,0
,80%,prop
,false
,true
,''
);
</action>

Also it's not possible to let show a preview jpg, no video-loading information and no menu (stop, play, duration). Only Opera shows that on Android-Tablet.

Hope this features come soon.

Thanks Felix

Anyhow...using handBrake to transcode video to a mp4 web format didn't work for me.
How to provide more than a format basing on used device? I am referring to the rows of code written by destiny of the mp4 ogg and webm file :)
May be that os a few OT but...If i want to learn to use JavaScript, do I have to learn all of JavaScript or there are only some section I can concentrate on?

Thanks!

Try to use Handbrake with Web or mobile profile to transcode video.

Yes displayVideo use only one file format. I've reported your request.
For video player it's already into the feature request.
