Timeout (while making map API call / very slow start tour

by Sissi » Tue Nov 19, 2013 12:32 pm

I have conducted this virtual project of 15 panorama's:

www.schladming360.at/groebming

It takes mostly more than a minute to load this page. Sometimes it doesn't even start and it says:

"Connection timeout while making map API call. Try to reload the page."

Does anyone know what I should change to make the tour start faster?

I got the timeout message when accessing from the UK.

Perhaps you should try a different web host?

I Guess your load is to high.

try to reduce the Jpeg quality on the Build-Module in PT

Those MP3 files look like they may probably the problem?

I think they may get downloaded before the first scene gets displayed?

Yes, the 17 mp3 loaded at start seems slow down the tour.
I've reported this problem.

Each sound is linked to a panorama ? to a spot ? as background sound ? Thanks

In waiting you can try to remove the mp3 preload with XML editing of the index_skin.xml file. Add <!-- and --> to comment code and keep only the start mp3 into the preloadSounds action.

Example :
Code: Select all
<action name="preloadSounds">
    preloadsound("every_step.mp3");
<!--
    preloadsound("crimson_fly.mp3");
    preloadsound("payday.mp3");
    preloadsound("whistling_down_the_road.mp3");
    preloadsound("denis mercier - oiseaux, insectes - rossignol.mp3");
    preloadsound("sound satttental.mp3");
    preloadsound("brontosaurus.mp3");
    preloadsound("mix_1m33s (audio-joiner.com).mp3");
    preloadsound("stalling.mp3");
    preloadsound("sound2.mp3");
    preloadsound("get_outside.mp3");
    preloadsound("getting_there.mp3");
    preloadsound("tracteur mixe.mp3");
    preloadsound("sound schwimmbad sankt martin.mp3");
    preloadsound("mix_24s (audio-joiner.com).mp3");
    preloadsound("sonclasic.mp3");
    preloadsound("grace_behind_the_curtain.mp3");
-->
  </action>

Dear Benjamin!

Sorry for my late reply, I have been away, but now I am working on my 360-projects again.

Thank you so much for your very useful help! I removed the MP3 preload with XML by editing the index_skin.xml file (like you said) and now it's working fine :)

I also made these mp3 files much shorter (and just "loop" them).

Google Chrome and Explorer work really well. In Firefox it is a bit slower, but the good news is that it all works!

Merci encore et très bonne journée!

Ellen
