PTP 2 Offline tour

by R3lic » Fri Oct 11, 2013 8:04 pm

Hi, I have to convert/make an offline tour for my client.

I built a tour only desktop and flash with xml encryption.

When I start it descriptions doesn't work. It caused maybe the lack of local webserver?

How can I help for my client with this? He want to reach all features offline.

Thanks.

This tour is about an exhibition and my client want to show the tour offline but there isn't an internet connection.

Of course not all features (online maps, links, etc.) but descriptions are important and this function doesn't work.

Many features in PTP 2.x are implemented in javascript and must be delivered from a web server to work correctly.

So you will need to setup a web server on the PC used to display the tour offline.

Did you read the thread I provide a link to?

Then check out this offline web server which is what the thread mentioned:

http://www.server2go-web.de/

Or this one:

http://www.usbwebserver.net/en/

A Google search for 'offline web server' will reveal others too.

Thanks mediavets, I've got a local webserver running I was just pointing out that the OP might not be able to see the post you linked to if it's in a private section of the forum?

Yes, thanks. It seem you have to be registered on what was the old VIProom forum for pre-beta testing of PTP 2.x to have access to that section of the forum.

I am so didn't realise it was still restricted in that way..

Tours from PTP1.8 could be displayed offline on an iOS device by simply using Goodreader or similar.

I've not tried this yet with tours from PTP2 but I'm guessing it won't work given there's no local webserver running. Does anybody have a solution to running PTP2 tours offline on iOS devices? Any apps out there that run local webservers on iOS devices?

The local webserver is needed mainly for flash tours on desktop. If you create a HTML5 only tour, you do not need a webserver on desktop.
It may be the same on iPad, we did not try it yet.
So the solution you used with the 1.8, may work with the 2.0 .
