HDView beta 3

by hankkarl » Wed Jul 30, 2008 8:17 pm

HDView Beta 3 is available. the photoshop plugin is supposed to to 32 bit files in any color space. The viewer, however, requires a graphics card with "pixel shader 2.0" or better to use the tone mapping or exposure correction features.

to produce the files, see http://research.microsoft.com/ivm/hdview.htm

To view them, just click on an HDview enabled pano, like http://www.hankkarl.com/Mystic-Seaport/Morgan2/Morgan2.htm -- you have to use FF or IE, but will be prompted to download the player.

HDView works on other platforms also--Opera brings up this message:

Sorry the HD View Beta is not supported on this platform. Must be Internet Explorer, Firefox, Flock, Netscape, or Safari on Windows XP, Server 2003, or Vista.

I get the same message from Ubuntu GNU/Linux. Apparently HDview only runs on Microsoft operating systems, which isn't surprising since it was developed by Microsoft.
