New stratospheric flight to get a new panorama

by igor » Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:01 pm

we are reflying Geocam that takes snapshot of the ground from 120 000 feet ( http://sei.tamu.edu/geocam/Panoramas/panorama_22-23-50pct.htm ) and we will be using autopano to stitch them together like we did last year. This time, though, you can watch live the view from the balloon at for the next ten hours at:

Enjoy,

Igor.

It just landed. http://hasp-geocam.blogspot.com/2007/09/college-station-hasp-has-landed.html
We won't know what is in there, until we get the hardware back which may take two or three weeks. It flew for 19 hours.

Fort Sumner, where the balloon took off is next to Roswell, the balloon was initially heading that way, but the "winds" took it the other way. Sorry :-)

gps/googlemap of the tracking: http://laspace.lsu.edu/hasp/xml/HASP-gps.htm

Bummer, it looks like the "people" in Roswell were not happy with our fly-by. We are all annoyed by what happened.

I also did a small write-up about the potentialities of using autopano to making maps if only the orthographic projections were implemented :-)
