Bootable CD with virtual tour

by eric_5dmk2 » Wed Mar 18, 2015 11:34 am

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to create a bootable CD which will automatically startup my .html file with the default brower.
The tricky part is that I'm running with MAC OS and my CD must be for Windows users.
I have an old laptop (win xp) which can possibly do the job.
If you have a freeware doing the job, I'll be glad to use it!
Thanks

eric

Panotour and Panotour Pro are designed principally for the creation of online tours of course.

But....let's see what can be done to meet your stated requirement.

You'll need to use an offline web server to deliver the tour.

The krpano testing server doesn't really do quite what you want, but check it out anyway:
http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/vie ... ing_Server

Also check out these:
http://www.server2go-web.de/
http://www.usbwebserver.net/en/

.............

What version(s) of Windows and which browser(s) will they be using?
.............

And why do they need the tour on an autorun CD anyway?

.............

Will the capacity of a CD be large enough for your tour(s) or are we talking DVD here?
.............

Is the use of the Panotour Viewer out of the question?

Do you really mean bootable? Or do you mean autostart?

I guess autostart is the right word; sorry for the confusion.

Since the person is not very computer literate, I just want to ease things for him.
By that, I mean inserting the CD (CD will do the job) and it will automatically lauch its default brower.
So, no for Panotour viewer.
I assume computer will be at least running with Win 7.

Have you tested it on a Windows PC?

Do all features in the tour work?

Once the html page is open everything should work as long as you have internet connection.. but if you have provide the entire Tour on CD.., the html page might well open but none of the JS media features will work..

It would be better to auto start the Player.. But that will not work since it needs to be opened first..

So the only option is the first one, where the user has to have internet connection on Auto opening....

I've tested on my old, very old, Win XP laptop.
The autorun works fine.
For the rest, I'll have to try.
Thanks for your help.
