masking

Got some great idea or a feature request? Post it here and discuss it. The most requested concepts are usually implemented, as Autopano Pro / Giga is very community driven.

masking

by itsrichphoto » Thu Nov 10, 2016 8:40 pm

I think I touched on this before.

I mostly use autopano, but sometimes use ptgui. (I have both)

I just came across the masking function in ptgui that allows you to select each image and draw with a pen tool what you don't want to be in the final pano. I find this hugely useful when editing out the nadir patch. I wish autopano offered this function. I find the straightening a lot more simple and faster in autopano hence my preference.

I don't know if it is of any use to others - I don't always edit out the nadir patch - I use nodal ninja with a tool that turns the camera to do a down shot. Do two of these with the tripod opposite the nodal point, then it should stitch without the tripod nodal point showing!

Masking in autopano is really painful :(

Why i have to use points to mask in/out areas? Its really time consuming and confusing because I never know how large area one point covers. Isn't there option to just "paint" on panorama to mask in/out areas like its in ptgui? If not than I would really appreciate that feature.

Besides that I love your software, its by far the best on market :)

Have you tried viewing the Masking seams? They were precisely added to offer more visible control over the masking points instead of painting.

Completely agree with these points. Being able to use a Pen style tool to draw masks would improve the workflow drastically. Please implement this! :)

Yeah i know about that feature and I already get used to it but IMO simple painting a mask would be better solution.

I'd like to request this feature as well.
