Linux version ?

Got some great idea or a feature request? Post it here and discuss it. The most requested concepts are usually implemented, as Autopano Video is very community driven.

For AVP, we have one already. Not public as highly untested.
You want to try at your own risk ?

I am using ProRes files so I would need 2.2.0b3 - if your Linux version will be supporting ProRes?

I just want to clear this up, since Vincen is posting the links to the download history pages.

Linux versions are available from those pages, they were made available for users who were demanding a linux version no matter the state of it, but they come with a warning:
  • - Those versions are not guaranteed to work. If it works, great, if they don't then we can't do anything about it.
  • - You are using those versions at your own risk.
  • - No support is offered for those versions.
  • - A definitive working Linux version won't be available until a solution for the video players in Autopano Video compatible with most Linux distributions is found. At the moment there are just way too many variables to offer a viable solution.

No solution with VLC that exists I guess on most Linux platform readily avalaible no ?

We already use VLC 2.2, but it's not officially distributed with Ubutnu 14.04 so there are often conflicts, which is a problem that we can't systematically solve.

I guess you want to keep unity of GUI between OSes but why not remove VLC of AVP package and add an option in app to indicate pathway to VLC for Linux version ?

What's the progress on the linux version of Autopano Video Pro? I would rather use linux for my video stitching.

Since the OFFICIAL FAQ states "Our software can run on Windows, Mac and Linux. Virtual Machines are unsupported." why is it not the case?

AVP is running since a long time on Linux (it's just not officially supported) but it works fine so far ! Few things are not working like the new USB auto import of videos, but nothing really important !
Virtual machines are not supported as it needs a full unrestricted access at graphic card (which is not possible in most of virtual machines).

While we still don't offer support for the Linux version, the package of the version 2.5 will support more Linux distributions!
