AVP preview different from final render?

by transreal360 » Tue Oct 20, 2015 6:18 pm

Hi,

I'm facing an annoying problem here. I see this part of an image on the preview window in AVP 64bits 2.2.2:
Preview AVP.png
Preview AVP.png (31.72 KiB) Viewed 4491 times

But when I render the project, I see this in Kolor Eyes (similar result on any player):
Kolor Eyes.png
Kolor Eyes.png (56.07 KiB) Viewed 4491 times

I've got the same blending settings on presets
Blending presets.png

than on Preferences Settings:
Blend Preference Settings.png

So, why I'm getting that bad result in the final render? How could I get what I see on preview?

Please help!

Thanks in advance for your time

To get what you see on preview you'd have to place a masking point in APG.

Thanks for answering, how could I do that?

And why should I mess with APG when I'm only working (finally) on AVP?

Because you still need APG for advanced editing of the video, for example for adding masking points or editing control points.

Parallax isn't a bug.

But the render is the final step... I already add and edit control points and check everything is ok in APG, back to AVP, ok in preview...

But well, how could I add that masking point in order to see the same in preview and in the final rendered video?

I've seen that masking points you've said (I'm working on spanish language, sorry, I've got to switch languages back and forth) and as I told you, I already did all the work in APG with stitching and all, then back on AVG. And this is the image I can see on APG when I click on Blend:
APG.png
APG.png (16.59 KiB) Viewed 4466 times

So, the question again is, why I can see the perfect image in APG and in preview window in AVG but not in the final render when all the presets are the same?

transreal360,

How does your image look when you use the Mask Edition tool and Preview button?
The Preview shows the image borders where stitching will occur, which makes it obvious where to place mask points. See attachment.

Again, all the work is done In APG. The problem here is in AVP.

For the record, no mask points are on affected area

transreal360,

I understand that you are wondering why the image looks good in AVP until you render it. However, I feel that APG controls the blending, so I would not ignore looking in APG for the solution to your issue.

Are you be willing to try some ideas and possibly find the solution?
1.) I recommend inspecting the stitching borders by turning on Preview mode. Perhaps you will find that a green mask point is needed?

2.) I also recommend checking your Blending presets in APG, since AVG has additional settings. Maybe you will find something that is affecting the output?

3.) Try building the same project from the beginning and see if it turns out the exact same way.

Feel free to try these ideas and post your results, if you are interested.

Hi, and thanks for your interest.

Well, APG controls the blender, then pass those parameters to AVP (which saves them inside its own .kava file). That's why you have to 'save' a .pano in order to that changes reflects themselves on AVP. So, to render a video you don't need APG, because it already has all the parameters it needs.

So, answering your questions:
1) No masks points. The girl in the image is moving through camera borders, so putting masking points gets awkward results.
2) Right, APG has those parameters that AVP hasn't. They're all unchecked and 'Priority' is set to 'Ghost'. If I move or change any of them, I get worse output (more parallax).
3) Already did, moving initial position and cameras a little... It gets worse.

I've got to move on this issue, so I've got to edit those few bad frames in After Effects.

I'm still thinking this is a bug and it has to be repaired on future versions...

Yes, it sounds like you found a bug, unfortunately.

Hey,

Smart cutting isn't meant to be used with video as the best cutting choice will be different from one frame to another.

Can you try to render using the ISO cutting?

Thank you,

Martin

ISO cutting gets worst results, in my opinion. As far as I use this software, I often get best results with smart cutting.

In this case, the ISO cutting really 'cuts' the face of the girl, no matter how many control points I add. If I use mask points, the 'cut' moves itself to another part of the final image with annoying outputs.

The problem, as I see it, is in the preview window in AVP that wrongly shows an image that you never could get...

Ok, let me be clearer:
- we cannot change the smart cut between the beginning and the end of the video, so when you render your video the cutting is calculated on the first frame and then applied all along the video.
- in the preview the cutting is refreshed depending on the loading of a .pano from APG, or the opening of the project.

-> the preview is not reliable with the smart cutting, this is why we DO NOT RECOMMEND to use it.

Cheers,

Martin

I see. And I think that you should warn this to every user of AVP.

So, what's the purpose of smart cutting, if you DO NOT RECOMMEND to use it in AVP? I'm just curious...

Thank you for your time.

Sometimes it can really help with static video scenes.

Re: AVP preview different from final render? [NOT SOLVED]

by transreal360 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:03 pm

Same problem with different proyect, BUT this time with ISO cut:

In APG, everything seems ok:
APG.png

BUT after save, the image in AVP it's not the same!!:
AVP Preview.png

EVEN when it has the SAME settings:
AVP settings.png

There's NO mask points, since the image in APG looks perfect...

Any ideas? I'm tired to try moving parameters and adding masking points... ¡¡Nothing works!!

Hi,

So this issue does not seem related to the iso cut but rather to the fact that the synchronisation between your videos seems to be different between the preview and the render (we had similar issues on the forum : viewtopic.php?f=48&t=27531 for instance). May I ask you what is the FPS of your input videos? And what is the FPS of your render? In those two are not the same, can your try to render using the same framerate of your input videos and let us know if this changes anything to your issue?

Best,

Claire

Hi there,

I'm using 6 goPro HERO 4 Black all of them at 29,97 fps as input, and the same fps as render.

And I'm working with APG 4.2 and AVP 2.3 beta 2.

Thanks for your support and time.

Best,

Daniel

Hi Transreal,

Really not able to reproduce that over here.

Have you tried to render with turning the GPU off in AVP ? Does that also gives differences between the preview and the final render?

Also, Is it possible for you to share your project (or a sample of it) on which you're experiencing this issue?

Best,

Claire

Before that, I'd like to tell you that the problem was solved with smart cutting ¿?. I restarted my iMac, and now APG
APGsmart.png

shows the same than AVP:
AVPsmart.png

and the render is ok...

But, and this is very weird, I went back to ISO cutting, and now the previews are consistent (but wrong):
APGiso.png

So, maybe is anything wrong with the cache files? Just guessing...

If you need the project, I can upload it into a Mega folder (it's about 18GB)
