Memory error prevents Giga from launching

by captain3d » Fri Oct 03, 2014 9:55 pm

Hi

I have a show stopping problem.

PC running Windows 7pro
Titan Black GPU
AVP and APG - tried the latest official and development versions 64bit

Sequence:
1. Launch AVP, add videos, stitch as GoPro. Panorama displays
2. Either pushing Edit or trying to launch APG externally results in the error...
--------------------------------------------
Exception on cache memory allocation:
memory:45872 mo | thread: 12 | bloc: 0 mo
Try to restart application or contact support if detected memory seems wrong
File: ".\\KPoolMemManager.ccp" Line: 118
---------------------------------------------

Once this error displays no other software will run. Once the error is dismissed things appear to be normal again.

I tried...

Power cycling the machine (full unplug)
Uninstalling and reinstalling Kolor software
Tried the latest Betas of Kolor
Updated the graphics driver for the Titan Card

Further searching and I found that by lowering the memory slider in APG fixed the problem. The problem only accurs in the machine with 64 GB ram. The same files do not have this problem in a machine with 16 GB ram.

As I have a titan too and 64 GB of RAM and continue to have problems which do not occur on my 16 GB (also ;-) ), can I ask to which level you lowered the memory slider?

I can reproduce this error at will ! 100% repeatable. Like this:

Open PTP, open CP editor in a seperate "window"
Close PTP, this will not close the CP editor, which stays open.
Start APG -> error like below

There are several questions:
why don't a closedown of PTP also close the CP editor ?
why do an open PTP "window" affect start of APG ?

Kolor should have a close look at
".\\KPoolMemManager.ccp" Line: 118

Leif

btw:
Win 7 64bit, 128 GB RAM, lot of RAM left for APG

So what happens is you give APG only 90% of the available memory?

Why should it matter, as there is at least 50GB available memory ??

Don't ask me why but I had fewer crashes. And that is enough reason for me.

There is no crash. The error appears when I try to start APG, if I didn't close the PTP CP editor.
The problem is solved by closing the CP editor, then APG starts up fine.

If I have to restart APG, I call it a crash ;-)

I can not get the control point editor to stay open when closing other windows.

sorry to hear that. No idea how to solve that. Can offer you to work remotely on my system so you can at least finish the project.
