Stuttering MP4

by wideweb » Tue Feb 20, 2018 1:26 pm

Hello,

I am rendering video into MP4, 300,000 kbps, H.264 cinema 4K 4096x2048. The resulting video is stuttering (Jerky), in particular in the first 20 seconds of the output video. It remains stuttering on another computer as well.
This happens with all renderers of MP4: CUDA, GLSL and CPU. In addition to stuttering, Autopano video 3 renders only small part of the video, for example 3 or 20 sec instead of 60 sec. The problem can be lessened if I reduce the size and bitrate of the output.

The problem does not occur while rendering in Cineform and ProRes. No stuttering and no file chopping.

I am using: Autopano video 3, K-lite codecs, Win 7 Pro, Nvidia GTX 760, 16GB ram, plenty of space on harddisk, no other program is running including antivirus. I have installed the most recent versions of Autopano video 3, drivers and codecs.

I need to render in MP4. How do I resolve the problem?

Thanks.

Hello,

I apologize for the very late reply mainly due to holiday season.

Be sure you have the very latest proprietary NVIDIA driver installed.
K-Lite codecs can create issues if installed on your system. Do you also have those codecs installed on the second computer? If so, can you remove them, restart the system and try?
Can you also give me your computer or motherboard brand?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Olivier

All the drivers are up to date.

I uninstalled the k-lite drivers, restarted and tried to play. Of course, a computer without drivers cannot play mp4 clips... After reinstalling, the problems persist.

When I render a 1 minute clip at 300 mbps, Kolor will render only 3 seconds.
When I render a 1 minute clip at 24 mbps, Kolor will render 60 seconds, most of the times.
As I said, all these problems do not exist in Cineform or ProRes.

The problems started with Autopano video Pro 2.6. Version 2.5 works fine but without D.WARP.

My motherboard is Gigabyte Z77M-D3H.

Thanks.

Hello,

I thought a MP4 decoder was included with Windows 7 Professional? have you tried to play the video on another computer?
I cannot reproduce the issue the rendering on macOS Sierra or Windows 10. Do you use GoPro VR Player to play your video? If so, have you tried to change the video backend?

Best,
Olivier

Before that, let's resolve this problem:
Why can't I render a whole 1 minute long mp4 video at 300,000 kbps? It always renders much shorter clip.
The maximum that works for me is 140,000 kbps.
