Omni footage to youtube

Hi everybody!

Youttube wants 3840x2160 videos on upload to support 4k, but when I render the footage of Omni to h.264 to UHDTV then the resolution is 3840x1920. When I change the setting in the render-dialog to blueray and then back to UHDTV then suddenly the resolution is 3840x2160 and everything works fine wih Youtube.

And here is my question: When I render to 3840x2160 will the output be stretched, because the gap between 1920 and 2160 must be filled. Or does Autopano VIdeo crop the video on the side when downsizing from the original resolution of the Omni footage (like Apsect Fill)?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Philipp

... sorry, my answer seems to not match your question. :-)

There is a rendering setting: Aspect ratio. If you set it to "keep in display info" it will render the video exactly to the set size, and stretch the pixel aspect accordingly, without letterboxing.

Since YouTube 360 video is projected onto a mesh, the video's aspect ratio does not matter - it is scaled to the geometry. However black bar letterbox would cause a problem, they would appear in the 360 scene as black circles in the zenith and nadir, and the aspect of the view would be wrong.
