3D VR using 2 GoPros (not full 360°)

by BernhardMM » Mon Jun 20, 2016 8:55 am

Hello there!

Sorry for repost, inadvertedly marked the topic as "solved" - it's not :)

I have been researching about capturing a 180° (170°) stereoscopic video, and turning this into a equirectangular format to use with YouTube and the likes (leaving the rest of the 360° black). I can input the 2 videos just fine to AVP, using either "Gopro 3" or Lens model stitching (though stitching is not really required) and setting the "Stereo" properties, but after rendering the format doesn't seem to be right and does not display correctly in Cardboard.

Before purchasing AVP pro, can this even done in AVP? What am I missing?

Thanks, Bernhard

We've been doing this for a couple of years now
It works great. Can you post an example?

Hi Amidee,

Thank you for your quick reply - I'll put together some samples on Wed.

I have been making some progress by adjusting the Lens model to 14mm / fisheye, but the output still looks strange (no uniform FOV and limited 3D effect). I will show you the sample in a few days!

Cheers,

Bernhard
