Best iMovie Settings - Exporting to File

Hi all,

I created my 360 video using a freedom 360 6 gopro hero 4...
GoPro capture settings: 2.7k (4:3)

Sync and Stitched Successfully in APV and APG...
Exported: 3840x1920 (SEE SCREENSHOT ABOVE)

I need to continue editing the 360 video in iMovie 10.1.1...
Once done...What is the Best Setting to export from iMovie and maintaining the 2.7k resolution...?

The iMovie options avail when I export as file are...
- 1080
- 4k

Is 4k the correct setting for my 2.7k source files?

Please send info on best way to export in imovie so that I maintain same quality and don't run into other problems...

Thank you

I exported video from imovie as 4k quality...
Then I used the 360 video metadata tool to re-inject code...
Then when I view my injected video clip in KOLOR EYES... I see a SPLIT SCREEN effect... why?

Is this a problem or will be fine once I upload to Kolor Hosting and on youtube...???

Thks

Hi,

Did you keep the entire 360 out of iMovie? What I can see here is that you most likely cropped the 360.

See if you can change the 16:9 ratio from iMovie to a 2:1. Or export a 19:9 from AVP. (rendering option -> aspect ratio: do not keep). What important is to have a consistent ratio / image size during the entire workflow.

Cheers,

Martin

Martin,

I'm using the latest version of iMovie and there is no custom settings as options when importing or exporting from iMovie.
The 360 was simply imported in full length...but no custom options...

Therefore we had to purchase new software...
We got Final Cut Pro (instead of Premiere cause it was less expensive and easier to use) and I was able to export without cropping problem.
Final Cut Export allows me to set custom setting when exporting...
I then re-injected 360 code...and I finally got it to work.

===> P.S. I will make another post soon concerning the parallax...
which I tried and unable to make the mask expand. It expands a little but I can't get it to expand beyond the person's parallaxed head... (Please give me feedback I will add screenshot)

Thks
