4K Support - Export in 2160p

by Urslang » Wed Aug 19, 2015 6:58 pm

Hi all,
I hope somebody can help me with the following problem..

Situation
I'm working with 3DH3PRO14H for 360° 3D video.
I have two target systems I want to export video from APV Pro (v2.2):

Youtube: 2160p (only one side, effective resolution is 4320x2160)
Samsungs MilkVR (3D with upper/lower): min. sesolution of 4096x4096

For both solutions, I need 60fps (59.94).

Problem
In APV, I did not find the settings that allow me to export in such a resulution. The only way I found was using the "uncompressed" export setting, but I got a video per side with 130GB, so a total of 260GB for 1:30min of video footage(!). It worked to then import this in Premiere Pro CC, but the data volume is just not cool. ;)

Question
Is there a way I can export video in high resolutions like 4320x4320 using the H.264 codec?

Thank you very much in advance!

Exporting over 4K cannot be done through h264 as we stay in the specification limits ( we could go over, but that is not documented in the specification which would cause a lot of interoperability issues ).
For creating over 4K video, use uncompressed AVI export. No limit there but huge huge files created.

Thank you for the answer!

Are there plans to include other codecs or wrapper in the near future that allow higher resolution with smaller file size (as an example, Quicktime with mpeg is mentioned in other forums)?
