BEST WAY OF EXPORTING A 360 FOR A CLIENT?

by leok17 » Mon Jul 20, 2015 4:26 am

Hello everyone..
Before investing in the softwares and rigs. I wanted to ask for help and clarify some doubts.

Is it possible to export a 360 video to e able to view with google cardboard? the 360 video with the split view?

What is the best way to give the final product to the client. Besides publishing it in youtube.
Do you guys request the client to download kolor eyes app on the smartphones?

Also, whats the recommended rig for most projects (No 3D)? to cover a wide range of events, real state, etc... 6 cameras? 10 12?

Thank you very much!
Leon.

Hi,
AVP and AV can both export videos that are compatible with Cardboard.
I don't know which players others use for delivery, since we usually give clients a Gear VR and either the standard video app or an ad hoc made app.
We also made a couple of events with an Oculus DK2 attached to a standard mac with Kolor Eyes.

The rig largely depends on the kind of situations you're going to put it into. We are really happy with our 10 camera rig, it makes it extremely easy to overcome parallax errors in most of the situations, but it also means that you're going to invest in 10 cameras (:
It also makes sense for future proofing your content a bit since you will still have a good amount of detail to export for the next few iterations of VR equipment.

Have a nice day
Marco

Thank you very much Marco!
I was looking at that rig with 10 cameras

Do you get the pole/tripod vanishing effect with this rig?

Which stand do you use?
I saw this one they provide, but im wondering is that is enough for a tripod.

Thanks again!

Hi there
that rig has two cameras on the bottom side, which greatly helps when dealing with the tripod. The tripod will always be there of course (it doesn't make stuff magically disappear q: ) but it's very manageable and the remaining parts are easily patchable or ignorable.

For the stand, the spacer you linked is really really helpful, although we also use a Manfrotto pole that greatly helps in a number of situations.

Have a nice day
Marco
